De-Limit Top Speed on Z4C

I am not sure that it will go much past the 155 to be honest so pretty pointless paying a lot of cash in removing the limiter IMO

Its not like 155 MPH is exactly slow :P

Also I wouldn't be overly keen to keep the car at 155 for a prolonged period of time.

Just to clarify, I have no intention of keeping the car at top speed for a period of time. 1. I like to look after my engine and 2. I don’t have money to waste on fuel.

De-limiting the car is solely for test purposes. I reckon I wouldn’t need anymore than 3 runs to test the VMAX.

We all know the Hatchback was an afterthought and the Roadster was designed.

I always understood they were both designed at the same time - still your theory might explain why they did a much better job with the E86. :fuelfire:

Just a quick one.

I’m currently in Germany at the N24, and whilst I was driving through the destricted zones of the autobahn I decided to test out the top speed of the car.

I only managed 2 runs (due to traffic etc) but the car got up to 160mph on the dash both times and still felt as if it could push on more (but I had to brake).

The sat nav read that the car was doing 158mph so I’m wondering whether the previous owner did indeed derestrict the limiter.

Anyone else tested this? If so what were your results

Picture quality isn’t great (I did a video) but here you go

I live in Germany with my English 2.5i, I've got to 140 before I started shitting it and slowed down. I always picture the worst case Final Destination type scenario when I get to such speeds. I don't think I'd get it much faster though.

5th or 6th gear?

I was quite taken aback at how 'low-geared' my E86 3.0si Coupe was at higher speeds on the trip to Greece from Northern Germany.....terrifically flexible in certain higher gears as a result but sometimes felt like I wanted to reach for 7th! An enjoyable sound emitted as a result! I hit 265kph (164.7 mph) in 6th on many stretches where allowed....held at 250 kph (155mph) for many km on one quiet stretch....a little busy at the front end at times but always felt 'planted' especially when taking long bends . All speeds indicated of course.....had I used the sat nav I would had a more accurate idea of speed. For sure though, the speedo is no way big enough....needs another 40kph on it as the car really doesn't feel 'flat out' Previously, I have touched 165mph on an 88 Porsche 928S4 I owned (with Porsche Technics 4 inch exhaust)...it felt like it was still increasing and was up a slight long incline....like the 928, the Z4 steering seemed to go heavy at high speed to prevent over-correction but I don't know if this automatic system is fitted by BMW?

They’re capable cars

The speedo should read 180mph imo.

A short film of my trip to Germany.

The Z4 Coupe is very capable car bar its sh*tty brakes.

I've tried a few times but obviously at the wrong times according to a few on here , watch out for Eastern European truck drivers and Germans that really do obey the temporary speed limits that are invariably in place , good luck , try later in the day as every time I've tried early morning it's been trucker nightmare . I've never tried later on an evening as I like a few beers after a Nurburgring session
