I'd be more than willing to help you out with it mate, but I've not done it before on the zed. Got plenty of experience with cars in general and always enjoy helping out a forum member.

Don't fit CCFL Angels go for LED ones

i'm strongly disagree on that .Ccfl's last much longer than led's and looks much better .

Found best quality angel eyes (LED) from here, items 5and 6. Looked at a few including eBay, but these weren't high quality.

Just be careful on measuring your ring  .... Mine were both 80mm but some lenses are smaller.

This is what they look like, supplied by a 9v battery to test

Let me know your address and would send the box of failed rings from the link above  They are simply crap ,led's start to fail one by one and you won't notice until half of the ring is gone .

Thanks for the offer, Marius. However I have used these for quite a while, and no failures.

Plus, I've got enough of my own crap to store, and don't need anyone else's ;)

Ranski give me list of tools and clues i need pls mate!? To fit ambers and AE rings! Do i also need amber bulbs for the clear hockeys?

No, you have amber glass holders in there.. and clear bulbs.

You can tint the glass holders to reduce the reflective orange coming through the clear

I did a lot of research on led and CCFL's and LED came on top in terms of brightness, crispness, colour, total light surface and durability

Infact i think I'm the only member to have fitted both on the Z? I installed my LED's last summer and they are going strong

LED and CCFL (led is much brighter, whiter and has a complete ring of light)

Cant i just remove the amber inserts and paint the clear bulb with amber heat prove paint?
probably. Don't think there would be any negative impact.you could also get the LED indicator bulbs that glow amber also.

EDITED to fix Tapatalk formatting

So leave the clear bulbs as theya re and use one way mirrored glass on the amber domes to reduce ALL amber coming through clear hockeys! Has someone a link for LED angel eyes as they do look better then ccfls?

see my post earlier in the thread, JE - these are the ones I have used, although Marius isn't keen on them - he has had some failures - but they are working fine for me. I would also recommend the diffusers that sit on the LED rings - they blend the LED lights into something closer to a single ring.

I ordered 4 LED rings and 4 diffusers, each 80mm - there is only one in each pack. You need to check the diameter of your lenses though, as there are differences (mine are Xenon main beam and Halogen high beam)

With the diffusers on they are a tight fit, and will need a small amount of sanding - removing about 1 - 2 mm off the top and bottom edge. You can see from the first fitting here the top edge was too tight and removed some off the matt black paint (so needing a touch up)

The AE's need to be tapped into the sidelight power cables, no relay required. You will need to put in a resistor by-pass or sidelight bulbs as well to stop the canbus error coming up (I just put in a sidelight bulb as easiest option. You cant really see it with at AE's on)

my wiring:

Where's the resistor in the above?

I love the AE look, I just didn't want to pay over £200 for some clear bits of plastic  and I'm only interested in doing the two conversions together. AE and clear indicator.

As said though Jonny, if you just want another pair of hands to help out I'm game, I'd be interested to go through the process on the zed anyway.

I didn't use the resistor RJS-Z4, I put a sidelight LED in (this is it unlit). When lit, you cant really see it unless you look closely:

Excellent, cheers mate.

Do you happen to know the correct resistance for the sidelight? Could this required resistance not just be minic'd by the AE's or are the two too different?

Not sure on the resistance - was considering doing this (with a quick trip to Maplins :) ) but couldn't find the information - I tried a multimeter against an old canbus LED (took it apart) but it was only reading 1Ω (I suspect I introduced a fault when I dismantled it), although everything I've read indicates around 100Ω should be used in parallel to the AEs. Still a work in progress, I'm afraid.

Cheers its the same guy, ive just secured them for the extra £40

Sometimes find this forum I bit hard to understand, August last year I was able to supply as many clear hockey sticks as were wanted for £170 a pair and there wasnt enough interest to get the group buy off the ground and now people are paying £240 and happy to do so.

Just dont understand.
