De-Badging

Our Zed is de-badged (as supplied from new - and we didn't buy it new)

Of the 6 pre-owned BMW's we've owned half have been de-badged, whereas not one of the twenty other cars we've owned has!

So, what is it with BMW's and be-badging?

And what's the general opinions on de-badged Z4's?

i de-badged the boot, looks cleaner, some de-badge because its not 3.0ltr

Personal preference and varies with car. On my Zed, only the roundels remain. I also find that washing/waxing is easier.

yep mines not a 3.0ltr,... first thing i did when i got it home was take off the /m badges.. :lol:

did you also remove the exhaust tail pipe on the off side, complete give away

De-badging is fine, it can make the car's lines look cleaner. Personal choice I guess although you do notice it seems to be the 'lesser' models in a BMW range especially 3 series that end up de-badged.

It's putting a badge on the car that says it's something it isn't that seems to get the most stick, the 'M' badge being the greatest crime

I plan to debadge my boot badge, and i woul like to remove the side badges as they attract wax between them - but then any old Golf Gti would think i have a 2.0 and try it on!

Took the 'Z4' off the boot for cleaner look, but left the '3.0' on the sides.

Perhaps I just can't make my mind up, but I'm not sure about that

I've done exactly the same. tidies up the rear and the sides left on so people don't think it's a 2.0.

Mine came de-badged AUC and I have re-badged boot and wings although they aren't exactly a bargain for a bit of metal and sticky backing.

Don't think I'd de-badge a car, looks like you are trying to hide the fact you only have a small engine in it!

No, but really, I put 2.0ltr badges on mine so I can fool the insurance company and get a cheaper quote....

I debadged solely for the the reason of asthetics, Couldn't give a rats arse wheather people think I am driving a 2 litre or not, the point is they arn't driving a BMW and are therefore probably driving a lesser car anyway. :wink:

What are these key hole blanks i keep seeing? Seen some in the drivers door too, so where do they come from, or are they just roundals sprayed and stuck on?
