De-Badging Today!!

Going to have a go at De-badging the Z&4 from the boot today, any pearls of wisdom before I start butchering my car?

Procedure i'm following is

1) Clean Area
2) Saw Z&4 off with dental floss
3) Clean residue with baby wipes or the like...

Pictures coming soon!

hair dryer always works for me and ensures the glue comes off with the badge....get it nice and warm then gently but firmly lever it off....put a suitable piece of wood against the bootlid with something underneath to protect it, then use that as a fulcrum, so whatever you use to lever it off doesn't actually touch the paintwork. better if you can get someone to gently keep the heat up as you go....good luck!

Eds top tip

1 b) Pour warm/hot water over the badge from the kettle for around 20secs to loosen glue. I was told a hair dryer, but warm water is much more portable ;)

3. Bug and Tar remover works well. Plus IPA Alcohol on standby to get rid of stubborn glue...

Thanks ed, when you say hot how hot are we talking almost boiling?

Sorry mate, edited to add more in my initial reply! You want the water around 60-70 Celcius i'd say... Basically as hot as your hands can tolerate (imagine washing the pots). If your hands can take it, you know you're not going to damage your paint etc. :)

All done all except a tiny bit of residue that wont! come off and a strange outline of the Z4 which i hope will come out with a good polish!! Thanks for all your help!

IMO Looks Much Better?

Defiantly mate changes the look of the car on the sides i think luckily the guy i bought it off had already done a really good job on the side ones, thinking about making the BMW signs Black and White next

Hmm not seen that...might have a look on tinternet and see what u mean

infinitely better.

im not personally a fan of the b&w badges (except on black cars), but debadging is great. Had mine off within minutes of getting home from the showroom.

X2. Mine only lasted a couple of days and went along with the visor warning labels. The b&w scheme looks good on white cars also. :poke:

Just ordered the black and white badges for front and back, NEXT PROJECT WHEELS!! nice set of MV2s i am thinking

I just did the "Z4" on the back this morning, have the left the "3.0" on the sides for the time being.

yeah definitely the way to go on the rear, makes it look a lot smoother 8) I need to get a clear third brake light to finish it off.

I'll take the 3.0 off at some point probably, I just need to be 100% first.

This is the dogs nu*s for removing adhesive after de-badging, or any other labels for that matter-
