Yep, it's another Dashcam post.....

Wasn't sure where to post this, as there isn't a section that seems to fit for tech that's common to all variants of Zed. However, having just bought a DDPai M6+ dashcam and fitted it this weekend, thought I'd let you all know how brilliant it is!

I changed from a Roadhawk, similar to a 601 in size, as it was getting on a bit (720p max recording, no GPS or parking mode), and I wanted a better image quality plus the parking mode. It's not as discreet, but is still fairly small and sits high up the windscreen

I'd read a few reviews, and for the cost (a penny under £90 from Amazon), this is a great bit of kit.

Techmoan did a review which was pretty useful:

Oh, and I'm now going to relocate my Roadhawk to become a rear facing camera - just deciding on the position first!

Do you have a picture from inside and outside how it sits behind the windscreen of your Z?

It's larger than the Roadhawk I had but can still fit behind the rearview mirror. It's more visible from the front (but only if you look for it). The power lead goes into the base, so that's pretty unobtrusive. One criticism I have is it would be better if it was slight shorter as it's currently very close to the back of the rearview mirror (you can see from the underneath photo).

Looks really tidy.
And it fits completely behind the mirror.

I saw the video from techmoan with that external power supply to power the parking mode without draining the main battery. That looks like a sweet setup in combination with this camera.

Do you have any wobble noises like techmoan said the predecessor of this camera had? (with the z4 being also a pretty stiff ride)
(Not that its really important, with a crash the image is the main thing to have)

I haven't noticed any - I'll get a video up and post it to youtube to show shortly. I liked the battery pack backup as well - but I tend to only leave my car for up to 12 hours at a time which shouldn't drain the car battery. I may just go for it anyway :)

The blank sound is when I pressed the remote button, to capture video to my iPhone. It's a pretty cool feature and one that will help populate the "spotted" thread :)
