Dateless Plate

Same here, and in that order too. For those who have changed registrations since paper tax discs were abolished, I presume that there is nothing else to do once the MOT and V5 have been returned (except informing the insurance company) as the changes to the tax disc will be made automatically?
... For future reference , what I did was got my plates made up with the retention certificate so they were ready to be fitted when the V5C came through.Now what I've since read that I do wrong is drill the plate from the front. , I've since found out and it makes sense- that you are better to drill the plate from the back as this stops the reflective material from being blown off the acrylic.

This is something I'm very OCD about ... I always get the plates made up by a a Marque main dealer if possible the original supplier of the car ....until recently I would get a task disc that matched
This all started when a mate of mine had a Lancia Evo Integrale that the previous owner had sourced Walker of Northallerton plates ( biggest supplier of Integrales into the UK) .
Incidentally if you have very recently bought a car from a dealer , they'll quite often supply a replacement set for free when you change to a dateless plate.

I do the same, I like the livery to be that of my dealer I bought the car from if possible, or at least serviced from, and that used to include the tax disc holder too!!

the latest one came was originally ordered from the OPC in Mayfair - it took some ringing around to get a set ... mainly due to the parts department being out in Reading.
My original Zed was on Soper's plates and tax disc as they had serviced the car and then were brilliant about parts as I moved the car to OEM Plus Spec .
the best ive ever heard is for the Alfa Romeo dealership in Cheshire Mangoletsi - they were certain they got business on Alfa purchases as buyers wanted the distinctive M sticker they used to fit in the rear window.

Yup key ring too, but I always like a different high end one, and has to be OEM, some Mercedes ones are £200 which is a bit excessive. The little things eh?
