Not an e89 but this install has me wondering if I could do something just as clean in my e89:

Watched that video some time ago when I was contemplating the Mobius. I have seen others make their own bracket with some metal and magnets stuck to the windscreen or side of mirror housing, both discrete and smaller than the original sticky or suction mount made by them.

For me the Blackvue still stands out as the most discrete with the most features included.

Would love to see more setups in the E89 though!!

Not that discreet though .... I have to hang upside down to see mine behind the mirror. It is just about impossible to see from the outside, and the same from the inside.

It is a Mini 0806 unit, I think I might have posted pictures in the past but have to check.

Now I see, yes. I did not mount mine in any of the cars on the side, I mounted it behind the mirror though. Difficult to operate, but invisible.

See my problem is all of those 'discrete' mountings are fairly obvious external to the car. I regularly leave my car top down, locked but in view. However, it's not close enough to stop someone from ripping the camera out of the car. So the I say discreet I mean almost invisible & requires effort to remove./

I also leave the car with the roof down and never had a problem, you will be pushed to get a gps camera this small and descret

had something similar to this stolen from my car broke a few bits of trim as well... also introduced a rattle under some conditions which I'm yet to track down :(

I'm not sure I would have mounted the Mini 0806 driver's side but each to their own, either way looking at the screen it appears to give a good angle.

How have you found the Mini 0806? They were removed from CarCameraShop due to reliability issues and many people have commended online that they have only lasted 12 months or so?

Has anyone hardwired theirs to an E89? Either with a power magic pro or other means and if so have you got any drive low voltage warnings?

Currently waiting for Blackvue to announce an update on the DR600 range before I decide. The shape of the Blackvue to me is its biggest selling point being cylindrical, black and no lcd screen.

Nice to see other examples though.

I had the Mini 0806 in my M135i for over 12 months and just taken it out as traded the car in. Its likely it will be thrown in the bin when I take delivery of the new car and will look at an alternative cam. I've found the Mini to be unreliable, the mounting bracket is poor with an iffy connection. I've found the unit to run extremely hot so much so you can't hold it in your hand at times. Mine has frozen on occasions and I've been unable to power it off so had to disconnect it from its mount and wait for the battery to run down before I can use it again. Reading some reviews its a common problen. I like the size of the cam but thats about it.

Tim.

Would two Mobius with the lens extension fit inside the courtesy light trim.
Drill hole front and back for the lens.

I'm sure you could fit them in the trim. The issue I see is overheating & getting access to the SD cards if I want to.

I have actually ordered a Mobius though.

Had my Blackvue DR650GW-1CH put just to the passenger side of my rear view mirror with the hard-wire kit for use when parkred:

This is the exact setup I am looking at. How have you found the blackvue? Did you use the Power Magic Pro? Do you ever get any low voltage warnings?

Thanks.

It is connected using the Power Magic Pro set at 11.8v and,as yet, no low voltage warnings. The only issues with warnings have been related to motion in the parking mode where I had the sensitivity set too high.

I have nothing to compare the blackvue to, as it's my first dash am, but I do like it and it works well over WiFi using Blackvue Cloud services so I'm pleased with it.
