Question regarding instrument cluster warning lights:
I am aware there is an EML on the instrument cluster but is there also an engine logo light too?

There are both. An EML and a engine Icon.

EML
Engine Electronics - Malfunction in the engine electronics. You can continue to drive, but engine power is limited. Have the engine checked by your authorised BMW Service.

ENGINE
Exhaust emission values have deteriorated. Have your vehicle checked as soon as possible.

Get the car scanned with rheingold (dealer software). I've only ever had that come up once. Long story but Could end up being something stupid
