DASHBOARD LIGHT MYSTERY

I'm new to this forum, having just this past weekend bought a 2006 Z4 Si. I hope I am in the right place in the forum. Here is my question: high up on my Z4's instrument cluster, up where the owner's manual shows no lights at all, I have two tiny, rapidly flashing LEDs which come on from time to time. When they do come on they flicker rapidly then stop. Maybe they will be off for 5 minutes, then come on again. They are quite persistent and irritating. There is a voice in the background, not connected with the radio as far as I can tell, that comes on each time the light(s) do. I can't tell for sure what the quiet voice is saying, but the left hand light's voice says something about "back" and the right hand light's voice says something about "front". I have looked for what this all means in both the owner's manual and on-line, but with no luck in finding it. So, I am wondering what the light and voice are trying to tell me. Any ideas?

Never heard of this on all my years on here! Can you post a video on Youtube and link to it from here?

The voices in my head make for an interesting life Smartbear. They give me something to listen to. :D Seriously though, I do think the aftermarket parking aid addition that srhutch talked abut might indeed be the cause of my problem. While trying to figure out why my 'new' car's roof would not retract, I happened to notice an aftermarket wire attached to my car's battery. It had came unhooked, and I reattached it. I will try taking it off the battery and see what happens. By the way, I found that my roof would not retract because of the safety switch in the trunk. Upon taking it apart, I found that a tiny button on the switch could be pushed in and the roof motors would then work perfectly. I found all the parts to the switch, including the activating 'spring', but it occurs to me that instead of working on the switch I could just splice the two wires of the switch together and never again need it. Other than making sure the ledge is always lowered to make room for the retracting roof, can you see any particular problem if I do remove the switch?

I would fix the switch properly. I can guarantee you will put the ledge up at some point and forget it’s up. If the switch is bypassed you risk damaging the roof. Not a risk worth taking in my view.
