Dashboard buzzer approx. 50 mph plus

Hi all,

Recently my car 3.0si has a buzzer that activates above 50 mph and gets increasing louder as speed increases.
Oil is on the low side, lost 3 bars from full I think from last oil change but no warning to add more on the dash display. The buzzer first activated on a long motorway journey crossing the severn bridge, <10 miles from home. Oddly this week in the cold weather the buzzer does not come on, last time I heard it was Monday morning.

Can someone clarify what is going on?

Your Z4 hasn't been used as a Taxi in Singapore has it...?
They all used to (not sure if they still do) have a light and buzzer that would go off above a certain speed to try and keep them from speeding.

How many miles have you covered in that time? CCV or clogged hoses are the common causes of oil consumption assuming you have the external one.

7K miles covered since oil change

post facelifts don't have a speed warning you have inadvertently set to 50 mph do they?

Yes the sat nav has a setting for this, which was going to be my suggestion.

So possibly 100 ml per 1k miles. Worth doing an oil change yourself so you know exactly 6.5 litres has gone in (and how much has come out) then monitor to see if it changes. If it's static then I wouldn't worry.
