Dash lights

You need to put a code reader on it to be sure but that is typically a faulty wheel speed sensor.

The code comes up as the abs hydraulic pump no abs or traction control. BMW want
£2.500 to replace pump independent bmw
Trained mechanic £400 all in booked for
30th September.

Ok, the handbrake one is normally yellow for the abs pump but you did the right thing in getting the codes read and 5DF1 and 5DF0 are certainly ABS pump related. There is a company called ECU TESTING that will repair that for you for £200 but then you would have to remove and refit yourself. £200 labour from the garage seems a but steep to be honest, should be no more than an hours job really.

Thanks for your input compared to bmw asking £2.500 I’m happy with £400 with lifetime guarantee.
Bloody cars :headbang: hand brake light is only red while engaged yellow when its not.

I'm pretty sure the handbrake light is red whenever the handbrake is engaged even if you have no faults!

£400 certainly sounds much better than £2,500.

:( Expensive if it's the pump. .Mine was an ABS sensor with similar lights. This was after having different lights for a wheel speed sensor.

The ABS sensors and the wheel speed sensors are the same thing, unless you mean the pressure sensors on the master brake cylinder?

Op- can you confirm what colour lights you have with the handbrake off?

When hand brake is on red when off yellow
Cheers.

Ah, that would explain it. Thanks for clarifying. It will be your ABS pump: £200 for repair + cost to remove and refit.

Hi everyone I posted my dashboard lights went off yesterday never came on again today famous last words
I’m beginning to think could it be worn wheel sensors.
It’s intermittent. Has anyone else had this problem.

- Yeah on of the two pressure sensors. Number 2 here: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=BZ11-EUR---E85-BMW-Z4+2.0i&diagId=34_1290

5FDF0 x 5DF1 hydraulic pump motor.
On line it said fault usually affects 6-cylinder models mine is 4-cylinders??
I had the 5DF0 code and it was the ABS/DSC pump (fortunately not the ECU attached to the side of the pump). It's a well known fault where the brushes in the pump get stuck (apparently not using the ABS enough, go figure. More proof you should drive harder :D ). Instead of replacing the whole unit (at the exorbitant rate mentioned above), the pump can be opened up and the stuck brush sorted. Never had any probs with mine after the (considerably cheaper) repair

I had these lights showing on my 2008 E86 last week. Mine was a simple 1 minute dry out of the connector. The fault has never returned. See here https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=117772

I've had this issue on mine for a few years, the usual fix was lock to lock and the lights disappeared for a few weeks/months.

Lock to lock doesn't seem to be working anymore so need to get this done at some point, but doesn't seem to affect the car in anyway so in no rush.
