Dash lights, traction, ABS and low tyre pressure

Weird problem that hopefully someone can assist with. My other half was driving to work this morning. Now according to her, when going down the slip road for the A1M the car got a little squirmy, the orange traction control light is now illuminated, the ABS light is illuminated orange and the tyre pressure light is illuminated orange. The car started pinging at her to stop. When she stopped the speedo then went around the clock and back to 0. It sounds like its thrown a serious wobbler! It’s a 2007 3.0. She’s awaiting recovery as understandably she doesn’t want to drive it so I’ll have to check for any fault codes later (unless the AA guy does that)

Hmmm, that is a new combination on me. Are you sure the handbrake light is not on as well? Anyway, I would say steering angle sensor is most likely (may get away with a recalibration). I’ve never heard of them giving a warning beep to stop and the speedo going dicky though. I wonder if the battery / alternator voltage is ok?

It will have a code yes. Do you have a voltmeter so you can measure battery volts? You need INPA or equivalent to check codes and recalibrate steering angle sensor if that is the problem.

Right, I've checked the battery and it's a touch low but it has been sat for an hour this morning with the hazzards on. When running it's 14.50v which I'm happy with is normal.

Fault code reader showed two faults
5DB3, wheel speed sensor, playsibility, rear left
5DB1, wheel speed sensor, playsibility, rear left

Before I buy a new sensor is it possible to clean the pickup ring? (I'm not sure what the Z4 triggers off)

I've removed the sensor which was very easy, the pickup ring looks OK but it does look like perhaps the sensor has been rubbing on some high spots of it (is this normal?)

Eurocarparts have a sensor in stock so I'll get that in the morning and fingers crossed it'll only be that and it's just the Germans going OTT on the health and safety warning lights!

Sounds like you’ve identified the culprit. The sensor is not supposed to rub or touch anything so I’m sure s new one will sort it. Can I just ask...was the handbrake warning light in red or yellow?

Had the same lights stay on in mine since weekend, needed a new nearside front ABS sensor today, all sorted now.
