Dash Lights Stay On

I just love me Coupe. I'm constantly finding nice little BMW touches. My wife and I were out for spin the other night when I said how dark the comfort tint was out the back window. Shortly after, the car that was behind pulled beside us at the lights. To my amazement there was a load more light coming in the back window. It then dawned on me that it was auto antidazzle (or whatever they're called - you can tell I've not read the manual) rear view mirror doing its stuff. Like reactor light lenses. Yesterday, without noticing I'd inadvertently turned the light switch one click more to the left the day before and when putting the cat in the garage the lights came on, cool 8) .

Just got back from another cruise tonight and noticed as I was shutting the garage door that the dash lights had stayed on. Opened the car back up and turned the lights off auto to off and locked the car again, but they were still on. What’s that all about :o

Try getting in the car in the dark. Interior will light up and then slowly dim after you close the door, however if you turn the ignition on, which the car assumes means you're ready to roll, they switch off immediately. (I used this functionality to drive door handle lights interior and exterior and puddle lights underneath each door.)

You can also have walk me home lights enabled that keeps the dipped beam on for a number of seconds after you close the car to allow oyu to see while exiting a garage or walking the drive :)

Just did a search and this topic popped up so thought I'd resurrect it.
I'm having the same problem as the OP: went for a drive last night, when I drove onto the drive and switched the engine off, lights all went out (including dash warning lights etc) but when I locked the car I noticed the dash backlight was still lit?! (The one that lights the gauges). I waited to see if it would go out but it didn't. As soon as I got back in the car and turned the ignition on and off the dash lights went out. Happened again this morning. Any ideas what it is?

winny, this happens on mine everyone in a while - the interior courtesy lights go off, but the illumination of the instrument cluster does not. I'd be interested if anyone as an answer :?
