Dash lights help!

Posted this in 'problems' but had no response.

So I haven't been driving as much as I used to...maybe every 4 days or so. Car always starts no problem.

Last weds, driving to work, car was warmed up but power randomly cut out, traction control and 'EML' lights came on, and revs just bounced up and down. Bouncing up and down as in only from idle to 1500ish revs, but constant. Stopped the car, started, it had cleared, off I went.

Left headlights on the other day for about 30 minutes, battery died. Didn't bother jumping it, and the next afternoon it started ok...a little sluggish but fired up and drove the 3 mile journey. Coming back home later on, same issue of EML etc. stopped, started, cleared, fine.

The next morning (yesterday), i was hooning it and at max RPM it happened again. Stopped, started, cleared, gone.

now it does it every time the car gets to full revs if I'm :driving: hard

Any help much appreciated :( can't get it code read until late next week!

Not sure if this is helpful but doesn't the car go into a limp mode (reduced power) to protect the engine? It could be that. Hope you find a solution, there are lots of people on here with good advice

the revving bit and cutting out sounds like a knackered battery/charging problem. ECU's can do random things when the current fluctuates around the limit.

ive seen it in another car where the car was rough but running untill i went over a certain rpm. Any decent battery place can check your battery out for you.

what depicts a decent battery place?
I only ever use my regular mechanic for work and one bargin place for tyres so never use others

I thought it was limp mode, but thought you could drive in limp mode?
when the revs were bouncing up and down, I couldn't drive because it kangaroo-ed so hard!

a place that sells only batteries for all different applications. :D tbf your mechanic may have the test equipment the one they tested my battery with to simulate starting it was just this 2 pronged thing with massive resistance.

i use these http://sybsgroup.co.uk/contact-us. they were great. i thought my westy gell battery was broken but they tested it and said it was fine which led me to find out it was the starter.
