Dash Cam permanently fitted or not

I’ve advised a pals son to have a dash cam fitted and hard wired but he is having doubts.
He lives in London and is worried about it being stolen while his car is parked up and especially so overnight.

Am I giving him duff advice by telling him to have it hard wired and leaving it in as a sentry for parking dings etc.

Call me a cynic, but I reckon there's a good chance that if someone bumped your car then thought of doing a runner, then when they saw a dash cam they'd probably break a window and rip that out too!

I certainly leave mine in - it’s stuck hard and fast to the screen.
I’m of the opinion that the very time footage is required, it will be at home on the kitchen table because I’m “just nipping off around the corner”

Depending on the dash cam it can be permanently connected to the cloud, it can notify you of any incidents and you can view the footage from your smart phone or pc, so I’d advise to have one hardwired in.

I live in London and have mind fitted and never take it out. Came in useful a few months back when someone reversed into me and I made a point of showing them I had a dash cam. They didn’t bother denying it to their insurance.

Before I had a dash cam, I had an incident with my brand new g29 with a hit and run while parked for all of 2 minutes. That’s what made me get a dash cam.

Fit and forget, the chance of you needing it for normal
Stuff is bigger than the chance of it being stolen. Not worth it for a thief money wise and they don’t know if their efforts are being life streamed into the cloud.

When a burglar walked in front of one of my house cameras he ducked and climbed back over the gate to burgle the neighbour instead. Obviously I had a full face on the camera and he got caught in any case
