Dash cam hardwire

Hi guys,

I have purchased a dash cam and now want to hardwire it in.

Does anyone know which fuse I should piggy back off for it for be recording all the time?

Is there not a fuse in space 4?

Is the fuse box behind the glove box?

Yes mate no fuse there so your not interrupting anything!

Indeed just push the two tabs down at the top of glove box to release it

I've just installed a nextbase 512gw and also bought a hardwire kit. This connects to the fusebox and will allow parking mode recoding if it senses movement/jolts. It has a built in battery monitor that if it drops below a certain voltage it will not turn on. This should help stop it draining the battery.

On the subject of dash cams, does anyone know of a cam that doesnt rely on motion sensing to trigger parking mode recording, I want one to be permanantly recording but when parked only record at 3 fps instead of the usual 30/60 fps while moving.

My Blackview Dash cam has an automatic park mode when the motor is turned off. I have gone as long as 4 days without any problem starting. In the automatic park mode there is a motion sensor that will record as long as there is motion.

I used the bolt on what looks to be the bulkhead. Take out the vent near the A pillar (I had to do this anyway to help feed the wires into the fusebox correctly). Right at the back you'll see a couple of bolts holding some serious unpainted metal. I stuck my earth on this.

This dashcam has smart parking mode and will record time lapse and motion detection. It is a premuim dashcam which records at 2k using an ambrella a12 processor. It doesn't have a battery it has a supercapacitor, only top end dashcams have the supercapacitor NB batteries in the full sun can overheat and catch fire. I can vouch for the quality, I have three of them, the image quality and sound quality is excellent. You can directly wire them in for parking mode or use any battery monitor, I use the vicovation battery monitor which is a digital monitor and programmable, much better than the cheap monitors which don't always work well. http://www.car-dvr.co.uk/vicovation/dvr/vico-power-plus.html

Sorry to jump in and revive this post.

I’ve just purchased the Garmin parking mode cable, and was wondering if it needs both the Acc and the Batt wires connected in order for it to work in Parking Mode?
I saw the wiring guide for connecting just the Acc cable in order to only power it when the vehicle is on, so wasn’t sure if it only needs the Batt wired in to a permanent live.

I hope this makes sense.

Did you get an answer to this? Just bought the same thing and not sure how to install it into the fusebox. Happy with the ground but less sure about the red and yellow cables.
