drove over dartmoor today to a couple of piano deliveries, what better place for a blast in the z if anyone down in the south west fancies it.
I drove onto the moor at yelverton where ther is the old raf airfield , harrowmoor I think, anyway, the road from yelverton to ashburton winds over stunning open moors and tors, fast and slow stretches , beautiful rivers with granite clapper bridges, the two bridges inn would be a scenic lunch stop with lovely river and moorland views and ample parking . I am sure others on here, poss busy G would have a lot more knowledge of the area than I , it is pretty vast , could do a prison stop at princetown ,dartmeet was nice too, any one interested in getting a run together sometime before the caravans clog up the roads would be good . also any suggestions for other routes or beauty spots in the area. :driving:

Yes, Did it this year led by BuzyG, and the boys plan to do it again sometime next year, along with the complete Atlantic Highway up to Barnstaple but also Exmoor too on the final leg.

Lovely if the weathers good...and Spikey isnt up your backside all day long !!!

...... You need to release your handbrake whilst driving Alan and put some decent fuel in lol

ah , ended up picking up a piano at dulverton on the edge of exmoor today and still made it home for an hour in the surf at tolcarne till it got too dark. I thought busy would have the dartmoor roads wired. definately would be up for tagging along on your next one

Im sure Buzy will be getting it sorted soon. Shame you didnt make this years as I think we had 5 Zeds out on the Saturday and 8 or 9 on the Sunday.

..And Spikey, I was enjoying the weather and panoramic views with the roof down 8)

If I had a tenner for every time I've been across Dartmoor I'd be a richer man. I get up there a Dozen or so times a year, in the Zed and probably moor! than that in the Mazda for winter fun. Two issues are traffic on a nice day and the speed limit is 40 MPH, so you start early and I often take the obscure roads, when I'm on my own. They're not to every ones taste, being rather narrow, but in my book that just means they feel faster, at slower speeds. :driving:

There will almost certainly be a PH meet on Dartmoor, before Christmas. However the last several times I've posted a PH meet up here, with an invite to other Zeds, I've had no takers, so I stopped posting them up. :(

Live 20-minutes away. My favourite way to stretch the Z's legs. I will have to keep an eye out for these meets! Do post the details of that PH meet, as if I'm free I'm keen.

My gran lived a mile from Hound Tor, so we used to go up there most summers for holidays. Absolutely love the place!

A group of old uni friends and I went up there for a 6am hoon back in summer this year; took the road from Bovey Tracey up to the Warren House Inn and then across to Postbridge. It was absolutely MEGA.

BuzyG - if you do get wind of a pistonheads drive up there, please let me know, I'd love to go!

Last time I was in Dartmoor I was 10, camping with the Cubs. Got hypothermia, and the shits, in a big way. Great memories

Sounds nice OP. Am I missing something or just don't get a figure of speech.....Piano deliveries? Has your Zed got a trailer fitted?

There were at least two Tors that probably repelled local wildlife for a good long while...

Oh, and I was once bitten by a wild pony. Nasty fecker :x

Somewhere near Dartmoor was also where The Tic-Inna-Tree Incident occurred

All in all, just a year living near Plymouth nearly killed me a number of times. I do love the scenery though, and those roads... 8)
