Dare i ask?

I know the 19 inch 296 wheel cracking thing has been discussed extensively and probably to death but they can't all crack right? As I have to finalise spec on an e89 in a week or so how many owners on here have, and are running 296's with no problems, and the 1's that have cracked has it been from pot holes, rough roads or just with the rigid run flats? Thing is they're not to everyone's taste but I really like them and are my wheel of choice but don't really want lots of grief arguing with the dealers and the hassle so as many people's experiences with them as poss would be very much appreciated. John my 35i has the 19" 296 wheels on and I think it is a cracking looking wheel I have read about cracking but also on the 326 19" wheel as well so I am not going to worry about it as to me the car looks right on a 19" wheel and I will be getting a BMW full years warranty so any problems I should be covered hopefully Go for it

Are you buying new or used and what colour combination are you going for?

Good point regarding the 326's Andy, I won't be doing a lot of miles, prob around 3-5k a year so hopefully will be ok. Being daft and going for new, either 35i with DCT or 35is, sapphire black paint with red and black interior, nav, cruise, heated steering wheel, 14 speaker radio, heated seats etc, spoiled aint the word...

Hehe if you are in a position to get a new one then go for it we have just had an extension on the house which we saved up for so I don't want to go mad with the price and I have found a superb 2009 35i with only 23,400 miles on it in black with red leather the spec isn't as good as yours but it has all the things that were important to me which are

Professional sat nav
19" 296 wheels
Heated electric seats
Wind deflector
DCT gear box
Front and rear parking sensors
Full years BMW warranty and breakdown.

So it has over 5k of extras on it and red leather which it had to have so I am more than happy and I spent less than 20k which was important as this car is a big step up from my 2097 3.0si.

Over 30K no cracks! But then I am more like 'driving miss daisy' than most
