Dangerous split-rim wheel bolt bodge

From another forum, a Z4 owner paid £1195 for a set of reconditioned split-rim alloys. One of them was making a bit of noise, so he took it to his local tyre shop where they found four sheered bolts had been stuck back in with sealant. Several other bolts were spinning and could not be tightened. One of the rims was bent so be very careful when you buy split-rims.

I had 20" split rims on one of my Jags, I was driving down the motorway one night and I could hear a strange noise coming from the rear nearside quarter. Next morning I checked the car over and one of the alloys looked dirty, on closer inspection three bolts had gone! I guess it's like when you're watching a submarine film and as they go deeper the pressure takes it toll on the weakest bolt and then bang!... then the next weakest bolt etc. I'll never have split rims again.

Honestly! You'd think they swould at least use araldite to hold them in.
Not even a proper bodge!

That’s exactly what I found when I tried to disassemble a set of 108s that came with a former Zed. Some broken (and glued in), some spinners and some that wouldn’t move at all. They are currently festering in my “abandoned wheel” pile. On the other hand, I had previously split and refurbed another set of 108s and they were absolutely fine.

Get them on eBay...you could make £1,195.00. Not to be sniffed at! :)

At present there is only one side of the story promulgated on fb and there appears to be an issue with communication via fb messenger.
I feel it would be unfair at this juncture to name names until the full circumstances are made known.

Note : The seller has always came across as a genuine enthusiast and this goes against the general grain. He has posted as EZ states he has had issues with FB/ messenger.

We shall see the outcome unfold and hopefully resolved fairly soon.
