Hi guys

Im looking to change the dampers & springs on the Z, I was thinking of B4 Bilsteins for dampers with h&r springs, im not looking to slam the car, I just want to refresh the suspension, the spec in the docs I have mention I have MSport Suspension?

What is the best option for handling without destroying the ride?

Kind Regards

Nick

On my 20i MSport Auto I went with Bilstein B8 on stock MSport springs.

Great combo, marginal issue with compression damping on small stutter tarmac, but great gains in guide comfort and control everywhere else.

A good cost effective upgrade..IMHO

Nick, I know extremely little on the subject, and will merely share my experience. (Someone will come along shortly with 21 posts.)

I’ve first tried H&R springs with stock dampers. Bad combo. So I went with KW V3. Also camber plates and monoballs. With the PS4S and front camber, it’s a great set up for my driving style. But that will set you back US$7,000.

Good luck.

Marc.

Thanks Guys for coming back to me so quickly…..B21 would I get the MSport springs from the BMW dealer? Or does anyone else supply them, i think the KW Suspension might be to hard for me personally, but thanks for sharing Marcoose its very much appreciated

Hi Mick, I thought your car was a MSport?

If not Supplex supply high quality springs in Msport format..you need to specfiy the exact model inc transmission as they have different springs for all those options. At least equal if not better quality and much cheaper. I'd avoid 2nd user springs..IMHO

Yes The car is MSport, but I can imagine the springs by now must need refreshing, so would do that along with the dampers, I must admit I have never heard of Supplex.

A lot of German companies quietly get on with making good quality stuff.

From my viewpoint I like the fact they preserve the MSport ride height ..ie not lowered excessively.

If you are going to do the dampers then IMHO do the springs

Yeah I thinks its the best thing to do, will also look at doing the bushes

I went with Bilstein B8 and suplex springs …cheap compared to KW3 and Ohlins and ride well, I don’t seem to suffer from any issues on the front end but the 35i is a heavy lump.

Hi, yes I think I will more than likely go the same direction, I am not looking to lower the car, and like B21 I want to keep the same MSport ride height.
