daily driver

the Z is my daily drive, but in truth i use it every couple of days at most. We have a Aygo+ too that the wife uses for her work run and that's great for short trips to the shops etc.

If i'm driving to work for any reason (glasgow->edinbugh) its a 100 mile round trip and if the traffic moves along at a nice 60 Mph'ish i can get..... wait for it..... i have photographic proof....and witnesses....... 44Mpg!

The M Roadster is a daily driver for me in the spring/summer/fall. In the winter it's in the garage - that's from around December 1st to April 1st - although April 1st there might still be snow/salt on the roads based on how this winter has gone.

My drive is about 10 kms each way, but mostly on 2 lane county roads and provincial highways, so I get my need for speed taken care of daily. In the winter we share my wife's 325xi.

Although the full potential of winter tires will never be realized in my neck of the woods (i.e. it rarely snows here), I have snow tires on my Zed for the winter. That way I have no excuse not to flog her at all times of the year. :driving: I get around 21mpg around town. :)

What? ....no minivan?????

Mines a daily driver until I break it or decide to do more major mods or rebuild something which is quite often. At the moment it's suffering from a blown clutch and the rear axles been taken off for a rebuild and upgrade plus the brakes are getting an overhaul. Back up is the 330Ci which to be honest probably see's more mileage than the Alpina. Second back up is a Focus estate which usually just hauls spares and tools to the track.

Mine is in my garage most of the time. If there is any mist on the road I don’t take it out. If it looks like rain, I don’t take it out. If it looks like it may get dust on it I don’t take it out. The same for my Mercedes which is on a nice rug in my garage as it has been there for years. My wife says I do not have cars, I have places of worship. I polish and preen them most every day looking for anything that is not perfect. But when the sun is shinning, the 3 days that we have sun, here near Seattle during the year. Old ladies and small children better stay on the sidewalks and far up the sidewalks because I am hell bent for leather. Power sliding through the curves at 33 miles an hour, braking gently not to overturn. :D :driving:

my daily commute is 50 miles round-trip in my 3.0i SE Auto, about 60% on the motorway and 40% on A roads, I get around 35 MPG as there is little/no traffic on en route :D ....waiting till the weather gets warmer so I can go on the A roads with the roof down, speaking of which does anyone know how much , if any, will the MPG decrease by if I drive with the roof down? (assuming there is little or no traffic of course).

That's a big "if" on the M8 though isn't it :D

6AM start is the only way, otherwise you might as well stay in bed untill 9:30ish before heading anywhere near the M8.... hang on, thats not a bad idea :D

i ride my bike to work, 8 months of the year and the bus 4 months during winter, but boy do i have a smile on my face when i see my z4 in the driveway, i use 8 months for grocery shopping and weekend trips, this summer going across the U.S. with my son for 1 month, should be a blast. life is good. enjoy the ride.

I use it everyday and I love it! The car is small, easy to drive and I have a lot of fun driving it ! What could be better. :driving:

Daily driver for me too (around 80 miles round trip). Frankly, I find that the ride home is the best part of my day :driving:

Sounds good to me :D

Sometimes if I miss my "window" into Leeds, I go back to bed with my lappy, log-in to VPN and then check and send emails, before having a leisurely breakfast and easy journey into work, it's the way forward.

Anyone who doesn't drive their Z's as a main car and also doesn't take their Z out in the rain!! :? is missing out. Had great fun last night in the poring rain! Z4 + Roundabouts + wet roads + sport button makes an entertaining evening!! :driving: :D

i agree this car is great in the rain, also very good is the windshield wipers that are automatic, with traction and stability control and fat tires, you can still whip around turns in the wet, i would not however drive this car in the snow with the salted roads here in quebec, i want to keep this car 20 years as my summer car, so only non salted roads it will see, i have audi quattro for the snow and ice which is unbelievable , traction, outstanding grip and control.

I drive the Z into work maybe twice a week... just to put some joy in my life. It's 25 miles each way and parking costs me $25 to park in a garage in NYC. Not the most economical way to commute. I do about 23 miles to the gallon.
