Daily driver suggestions?

Ok, so looking for suggestions for a new daily driver - no restrictions on type of vehicle anything goes, as long as it's reliable enough to do 10Kmile per yr for the next 5 yrs, with standardish servicing.

Total Budget is £30K, if the age of the car is older than 5 yrs then would probably want to reserve a maintenance fund.

To kick off, current candidates are new Civic type r, used 235i, used 435i, used 997gen1, really used 997gen2 3.6.

All suggestions welcome :)
 
Great budget and plenty of options, I would be torn between the M235i/435i/new mustang 5.0 V8/C63 AMG(6.2)/new Focus RS maybe.

Good start.
The C63 is the most tempting, however, finding it difficult to get my head round 15mpg. Especially as it would be doing mileage.
Could well be worth it for the sound alone though.

Of my recent research, really surprised about the mpg and road tax on the 997g2 3.6.

Yes that is the big downside to a V8 and I have ran two V8`s as daily drivers in the past but the MPG hurt me too much so ended up getting rid.

The 911 is the consummate all rounder and it has plenty of kudos and desirability so it has to be a massive contender :thumbsup:

Jaguar XK?

Mercedes SL?

I guess my suggestions show that I'm a bit older than you as things like Civics, RS etc I see as being young people's cars.

Another zed would feel like cheating :)

The xk and sl s are nice but not great on mpg. supercharged xk would be cool though.

Mhmm, sort of preferred the s3, but was dissapointed by the interior. They get great write ups but I'm not not digging the vag group hatches at present.
 
M135i

I've been looking at used ones as there now coming in under £20k, also considered a 430d/435d xdrive as they are very quick cars but pushing £25-30k. I think the M135i will be more fun though as a daily.
 
Bit of an out there suggestion but as a daily driver with that budget I'd get a DS 5. Whenever I see one on the road I just think oh yes that is a good looming motor. The inside is amazing too. Big comfy waft wagon.

Although the Golf R is pretty special - i though until I drive it why would you pay almost the same money as the S3 for a golf - then i drove it - Manic Car Loved it.

Top gear has the new focus RS walking all over the golf R
 
I have recently picked up the 320d ED Plus Touring in auto which new is in that ball park figure. Very nice, comfortable and the other day we easily managed 66mpg. The active cruise control is fabulous, it is a real mile muncher that is practical to boot.

The servicing is every 18k miles - or about once every two years.
