Daily Drive replacement

My beloved 10 year old Polo is slowly dying :( and not so reliable. I'm test driving a couple of potential replacements tomorrow: VW Up and a Fiat 500 summer collection - love the Mint colour. Any thoughts on them and any suggestions on something else? Looking for something small, cute and girly :)

Vauxhall Adam?

I'm waiting for them to do a winter version ... the Adamski .... so we can have a car named after a forum member

Oh don't know about the Adam but they look mega cute too, nice colours  . Will have a look into them.
Mini is on the list too, dealership is next to the Fiat one so will pop in there tomorrow for a chat.

Love our mini but not this week.
Just had the clutch replaced after the crankshaft oil seal went.
The engine/gearbox had to come out to do it and that entails taking most of the front end off the car.
I would say the worst thing about minis is the oil consumption.
They all use oil and BMW reckon 1 litre every 1,000 miles is normal. Not in my book its not.
The mpg isnt great really either for a small car, just under 40mpg average.
Ours is just a 1.6 cooper and it could be a bit more powerful.

The Adam is a lovely little car Ruby, lots of different options. It has lovely vibrant dashboard and satnav lighting and can have LEDs in the roof lining.Well worth having a look.If you lived closer to me I could put you in touch with a Vauxhall dealer friend of mine.Good luck with your search

I looked at the VW UP Ruby along with the Polo and the new Hyundai i10 when I was looking for a small motor. The UP was the first to come off the list as theres been a fair few complaints across the forums on gearbox noise/chattering from new for which VW says is normal and don't want to know. Listening to some of the videos posted up it put me right off. Depends on your budget really but the new i10 is worth a look if after a smallish car, its gets great reviews and bit of a bargain, when I was looking though at the time there was a 5 month waiting list. Polos and MINI's will obviously be more expensive. Suzuki Swift 1.2 is worth a look, just as acomplished as the MINI but cheaper, the Sport is little gem. POLO is still one to go for but not the 1.2 as painfully slow but then larger engines and the prices go up. MINIS are great for residuals and handling but little else and expensive in the first place.

I would have a Ford KA over the FIAT 500 as they're the same car but the Ford is tweaked much better for ride and handling.

Tim.

My mother in law has the High Up, and so does my sister. Excellent cars, not a single problem with them and true VW quality. Nice engines and only £20 road tax.

I like the drive of them as well, a natural progression from the old Polo.

Another vote for the Up... Hired a bog standard one and started out thinking it was a hateful little thing but within half an hour I had completely changed my mind. I'm sure with a few comfort options ticked it'd be a great daily driver.

with broadly the same costs

Agree on the VW UP & the Superb over the Passat but the A6 is a different category ,
Build quality may be similar with the Skoda (maybe better) but its no match for on the road presence, cabin layout /interior space & whilst i have never owned a Skoda i somehow doubt you will have the same ownership pleasure behind the wheel as with the A6 8) A4 i may agree with  from my own experience of them all A6 is as good if not better than the 5 or E class
