Daft MOT fault 'advisory'!

The MOT went well again yesterday except for a very strange advisory for "undertray fitted", is this a problem? does it need attention before the next MOT? :?

I'm told testers mention it to cover their *rse in case they miss something that was hidden by the tray - Err well they might as well put an advisory for "wheel arch liners and body panels fitted" as well then. Daft.

Still I shouldn't complain really they do the MOT for half price and are the only discount MOT station I know that don't make up faults :)

Seen that one before on a thread here, think CJ mentioned at the time that they can't inspect stuff due to the tray and note that fact down.

It usually means there's something they need to test but can't due to the undertray.

They're not allowed to remove trim to test the car. They can't fail it though as they haven't tested it.

If you ask, they should be able to tell you what it was they couldn't check, and then you can decide whether to remove the undertrays or not.

Yea I get the point about not being able to check something, it just amused me as being such a pointless thing to record, it would surely be more useful if they mentioned what it was they were unable to check?

yup, had the same... and "engine cover fitted" was my other one.... next time I am going to drop the car off with a car cover over it and see what they make of it

Or if you have a faulty airbag light, just fit a box around it so they can not see it

On my rocco I had an aftermarket powersteering kit fitted.

Every year they would put

"steering rack extended"

and

"power steering pump close to water pump"

Every year they'd look at them, pry them with a crow bar, mark it as an advisory and say that theres nothing wrong its "just there"
