Dabadged - Have to informed you Insurance Co?

One day I will take an insurance company to the cleaners if they try that with me ... :headbang:

You might to remove that or her Majesty's finest will be prosecuting you for having an unsafe vechicle.

But for the love of all that is holy, has the world finally gone completely mad.

Not to mention Richard, you have lost your orange indicators !!! :D

That's is pathetic!! There are so many other 'violations' that are clearly more serious do they really have nothing better to do..? At least he is bothering to try and get his car insured and not just joining the seemingly growing masses of insured drivers out there... ;)

"Excuse me Sir, you appear to have a Stubby... I'm afraid you're not covered"

Insurance will find anyway they can for not paying up

they are far more dishonest than we are, like solicitors

Standard! Same with nearly all insurance. You didn't think you were actually supposed to claim on it and receive a pay out do you pah ;)

What a complete and utter load of codswallop.

A more useful waste of time by babybmw.co.uk would be a thread containing KNOWN, EVIDENCEABLE instances where insurance payout has been reduced or refused on the basis of modifications.

While there would obviously be the expected clutch of cases where BarryBoy has stuck a Vectra engine in his Corsa and not declared same, I strongly suspect the list of run-of-the-mill cases would be very short. I mean does anyone know anyone who's been impacted (figuratively as well as literally!)?

oh no, what happens if you stick an m or alpina badge on your z and dont tell them. i guess it would be classed as a modification and not be insured :D

No, the Taste Police come and remove your testicles with a pair of bolt croppers and hang them on your rear view mirror instead of the furry dice that normally reside there 8)

Agreed. In general, these sorts of posts are scare mongering nonsense. I'd bet a LOT of money that many of the members on here who have done simple cosmetic mods like tinting clear rear lights etc. haven't told their insurers and feel there is minimal risk in not doing so.

We have to keep things in perspective though; I think theres always the danger that what might seem an innocuous or sensible, safe mod, could turn out to be a problem in a very big, expensive or even life-threatenting shunt. I mean say you kept your winter tyres on too long in summer and got involved in a serious RTA and a police investigation commented on the potential traction issues, without even blaming them - could be seen by the other party as grounds for some kind of counter claim etc.. so one can see why the insurers are a bit nervous in some areas.

Or with non-RFTs; say you had a blow-out (which won't normally be a problem with RFTs) and caused a serious or fatal accident as a result....another party could claim that it might not have happened had your vehicle been fitted with the OEM RFTs.....and they'd probably be right.....so its not an easy one sometimes.

But that kind of puts garbage issues like this one where they belong!

Probably also depends on the type of insurance company. I will not insure a car with a company that has an Indian link as that is just asking for trouble in case of claims.

One of my pet hates.

ME: I'd like an insurance quote please because I'm thinking of buying a particular type of car.

CALL CENTRE: Whats the registration sir?

ME: I don't know, I haven't bought one yet.

CALL CENTRE: Then I can't give you a quote sir.

ME: But I don't know if I'll buy such a car unless I can find out how much it would cost to insure?

CALL CENTRE: Then can I have the registration number please...?

...and so it went on until I got the hump and put the phone down :headbang: Never dealt with them since.
