Dab / Fm Auto change over

I've got the box ticked to automatically swap over but on a trip up to the Borders today the DAB signal dropped but no Fm signal replaced it - i put the radio into Fm and there was the identical channel available in the area - BBC radio 2

I'd say go one or the other, my experience with it (in a Ford Focus) was shocking, always flipping between the two, made listening to anything a chore.

Glad mine doesn't have DAB to be honest!

Then Borders has some odd frequencies allocated to it on FM, my Volvo XC70 has DAB/FM and can get to a point where it was 'scratchy', I try and change and then lose everything..

Conspiracy theorists would point out that Spadeam (in the Borders) is the home of MoD jamming testing...

I was between Newcastleton and Hawick. When i switched to FM it was a good signal with no breakdown.

Ah that was over 15 miles away from the A68!

So it's either a combination of weather and terrain, or it's a s/w issue with your box....

If it's any consolation when I drive around the Mansfield / Southwell area everything is sh&£e radio wise, FM,DAB, GSM.....

When dab went off I stopped an changed to FM an all was ok - the Auto change over is highlighted.

I've had a bit of a dig and it seems the non auto change over is the fault of the BBC and something very electronically tech for a mechanical engineer. Something about idents.
From the 'net :-
It seems that none of the BBC stations (even R2) trip over to FM. The only commercial station I tried was Classic FM, and that tripped perfectly! (so the radio works ok - it's just the BBc that doesn't conform
