Completely the opposite for me. I have sold both our E89s via this forum. I have also sold an Alpina E92 and an F31. All were easy and quick sales to very nice people. I am also still in touch personally with one of them!
I was going to adverise my F33 on here aswell, but unfortunately it sold within half an hour of advertising it on M3 cutters. It was half an hour and it achieved more than I advertised it for.
Maybe......just maybe....I sell very good cars at sensible prices? Who knows?
Make up your mind. Which is it (in your opinion)?
Make up my mind? The two statements are not mutually exclusive….even when juxtaposed completely out of context.
Or, perhaps you struggle with understanding the simple difference between the words “many” and “majority”…or, perhaps you’re hoping that no one notices how you are twisting and turning now, hmmm?
You are just digging an even bigger hole for yourself and making yourself look (even) sillier.
The OP has (sensibly) deleted their advert, as a direct consequence of exactly the behaviour and unsolicited comments/opinions now being discussed.
Another person wished to do exactly the same very recently and pull their advert for their car on here, but apparently couldn’t figure out how to. However, they did have the satisfaction of their car actually selling very quickly on another platform and thus being able to post it as ‘SOLD’ here - despite the negative opinions that it had been given by certain individuals here!
There is little to be gained by leaving a car for sale on this forum, after it has already been blighted in some way, by unsolicited comments, from self-appointed ‘experts’, who frankly can’t mind their own business.
Furthermore, the danger then for a seller is that if a genuinely interested party has seen their car for sale on another platform, is keen on it but then happens to stumble upon it here, that they may then put them off after reading the unsolicited assessments and opinions (frequently including the price!) from the ‘usual experts’ here!
An interesting historical anecdote:
Many years ago, there was a frequent poster and very vocal ‘expert’ on here. I don’t know if he still is because it was on the E85 section and I haven’t been on there for quite a while.
Anyway, a non car-savvy friend of mine was after an E85. ‘Very vocal Expert’ happened to have a 3.0 for sale and also lived relatively near my friend. On the basis of his apparent fastidiousness and ‘very vocal expertness’, he seemed trustworthy and I encouraged her to buy this car from him.
Within days, the split rim alloys literally started splitting apart because the bolts holding them together were shearing whilst she was driving it! Because he’d cut corners!
Within (IIRC) two weeks, she basically ended having to get a full replacement engine, due to fault in the original being non-viable for her to have fixed.
I do remember his forum name….but, I won’t say it.
Reason for the anecdote? Food for thought about who these self-appointed ‘experts’ are?
Re: Your anecdote about selling your F33 on M3 Cutters within half an hour:
Your implied explanation that you “just sell very good cars , at very good prices….maybe…just maybe” actually has an entirely plausible and maybe…just maybe…much more likely explanation.
Maybe…just maybe….the explanation is that if you sold the car within half an hour that you just sold it too cheaply?
And, that you just didn’t care to hang on for a higher price. That’s the first conclusion any sensible person would come to.
Of course, that’s entirely your prerogative. I have done the same in the past and sold cars for ‘bike money’, in similar time scales, simply because I wanted to sell quickly.
However, that tells us nothing about “how good the cars you sell are”. If it happens with every car that you sell, it looks more like you habitually under price them….which then possibly….or even “just maybe”….raises questions about how much you really value (and cherish) them during your ownership?
People who really care about their cars don’t usually give them away too easily, do they?
