Cylinder Ring job question

Hi, has anyone done or had a engine ring job done on their E85? If so around what mileage? Just wondering as my Zed has 195k and is not showing any issues. Service has been done by BMW mechanic entire life prior to me just purchasing. All service periods were done based on the records I was given. No record of the clutch being replaced either? It is solid and no signs of any slippage either.

If it’s not burning oil then leave well alone in my opinion. You could do a compression test if you really wanted. Ditto the clutch. Leave well alone if it’s working okay.

Leave it alone, if the engine is looked after it will outlast the chassis several times. I’ve had track day BMW’s with higher miles that that, driven hard around tracks and never Had one engine issue.
The M54 is one of the best engines ever made.

Best left alone if no problems evident, if anything the valve stem oil seals might be worth changing, they like the cam cover gasket go hard with age and end up sucking oil past them, evident from smoke in exhaust on over run and acceleration, may only show up as a short puff of smoke. Found this out whilst being driven in Germany and following a BMW that was doing it, mate explained it was common with BMW engines at higher mileage.
