Custom footwell speaker adapter

Hi everyone,
I'm in the process of upgrading my z4's speaker system. I have the 6 speaker system and a Focal PS165V1-LE component set from my previous car that I am installing into this.
I took a few measurements of the footwell and after a couple of 3d print tests I managed to get a suitable adapter for my usecase.

I printed it in petg and used some brass inserts for added thread strength as this adapter is only 6mm thick . The fit isnt absolutely perfect and lined up however it does sit flush and does the job. For the drivers side I used a 12mm version of this without thr bras inserts as it was thick enough where I didnt deem it necessary. I soldered some wires to my woofer and connected it to the crossover which I stuck on the inside top side of the footwell using butyl tape.

I didn't cut any factory wiring for this, I soldered a compatible cable i bought off amazon to make it work. It's been a couple days and nothing has broken so will see.

I plan to install the tweeters next im not sure yet how I will connect them, whether I can just hot glue them to something or if I need a custom adapter. If anyone knows it would be helpful. After that I am looking to buy a class d microsmplifier that I can put behind the glovebox and connect with a t harness to the factory audio so I can power my speakers properly. I want to keep everythint looking factory so dont want to change head units.

If anyone has done similar let me know below please and if anyone wants the file to 3d print themselves can upload it when I get back to my laptop.

Hey @Caspon could you please share the file with me? I also have a set of focals and have been wanting to fit the midbass drivers in the footwear. Are you going to fit mids in the doors as well?

Thanks!

Very interesting thank you. I have no plans for door speakers yet but the tweeter stuff is useful.
