Custom Cruise Control Loom

I'm interested in this as I want to fit the cruise control stalk, but what is it designed to do?

You use this instead of the one you would need to buy from BMW. The advantage of this one is it is cheaper and you do not need to the existing loom in the car.

Can you see these?

Is that the plug off the Ecu?

If so I think it's the wrong one. Need to be the connector in the box in front of the main Ecu housing.

If you could confirm though.

Cheers

Yes that one was from the ecu.
Thought that was what your post said.

There is sort of a fuse box in front of the ecu box, is this it?
Which plug?

Cheers.

This is the difference I'm trying to see.

One on the left small square hole. One on the right flatter wider pin hole.

According to BMW retrofit instructions

N52 or N46 (after 10/04) one on the right
M54 (after 01/06) one on the left

This is the exact problem I had when retrofitting heated seats; I had bought a pre-facelift heated seat switch assembly which didn't match my (post facelift) M pins.

Looks like I can get both pins, so everything is ordered and should have all by the end of the week.

I have a Gineapig lined out so hopefully in production next week.

Think I have this sorted now. Found a link on realoem that confirmed my suspicion.

OK, so I think I have updated the lsit. If your name isnt on it let me know.

I will be fitting the first on Saturday. I don't see any issues so look to be taking payment from next week.

Little update. Tried to fit loom to a car today. One issue with a pair of contacts for the LCM. They are different to the normal ones.

Luckily I think I have identified them and so no have some on order. I have committed a fair cost to this project now guys so this is going to happen. If the parts arrive this week I will test the pins on my car. If all OK then I will start asking for payment and start shipping them out.

I have done a fair bit of wiring on BMWs and Minis, getting the right terminals can be a bit of a game and I have found the best, (but slowest) way is to buy them one at a time from BMW until the right part number is discovered. It is also often easier to buy them pre terminated on the wire and then solder sleeving the wire as good quality crimp tools are very expensive.

Are you using genuine BMW terminals and thinwall cable?

I've just got a used cruise stalk from this guy on eBay (hope link works. If not it's just classiccarspares2015)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/classiccarspares2015?rt=nc

I'm not sure if he has any more but it's mint condition and very reasonably priced.

Yep, I'm still in. Just need to get the stalk and a bit of a guide.

Anyone know where to get the CC stalk? Dealer?

Sopers in Lincoln - ask for Jamie in parts to get a forum discount - I got one a couple of weeks ago for £104.69 posted and they had them in stock

BMW terminals are made by TE. Buying direct from BMW is s lot more expensive so only buying the ones I can't get elsewhere from them. I don't want Ines with tails as they are all black and will only cause issues to people fitting them. Colour coded cable is a must.

Just waiting for the LCM terminals to arrive. :x
