Current Z4 used prices- UK

Well I'm still looking for an M.

The 06 16,000 mile one with few extras sold at £17,400.

There is an 06 one with plenty of extras including nav and 45k miles that I've got down to £18k although I have decided that this is too expensive with the mileage. I think this could be almost un-saleable, unless it went to circa £16k due to the mileage.

Ideally what I want is a low mileage one (circa 20k) with a few options (not bothered about nav) for about £17.5k.

The asking prices are crazy at the moment. I spoke to a guy today with an 06 M with 15k miles and nav advertised at £21k. When I told him about the one above that sold for £17,400 he said "You're joking" in a rather shocked voice! He said he won't go much lower than £21k!

I think you're asking too much to get one for £17.5k personally. If you're looking at an 06 plate one, I'd budget £18.5k. Any later plate, and keep adding around 1k per plate I'd say.

To be honest I think the low prices of a few months ago were more crazy. The now seem to have increased/stabilised to more realistic levels, but they are still good value for money for the performance and age when compared to anything else on the market.

Good luck with finding the one you want :)

Looking at non-M cars, prices seem to be all over the place, maybe due to the new model arriving soon. Dealers seem to be pricing lower to sell what is now nearly old stock, but some are still asking for high prices.

A 3.0 Coupe 2009 registered for 24*** but elsewhere dealers are still asking 30k for 2008 cars.
There`s a 2009 M Roadster available for £38,000.
Many of the 2009 registered cars seem to be black

Thats what I thought originally, until I saw the above mentioned low mileage mint example with a years warranty go for £17,400! He had it up for sale for a month, it was the cheapest one on Autotrader and he only had 3 people view it! And thats not the only one, as mentioned above I've haggled an '06 40k mile M with nearly every extra added to £18k and hes still chasing me for offers.

I think the high asking prices are distorting peoples expectations.

I obviously have a vested interest in talking the market down, which isn't going to be welcomed by any current M owners, but i think talk of these cars appreciating in value in the current climate is unrealistic. Very few cars actually appreciate in value, let alone 3 years old BMW's!

All of course, just my humble opinion.

When I bought mine, I budgeted that in 3 years time my car would be worth no less than £5500. Its a 53 plate 3.0i with all the options (nav,10 speaker, red leather etc) and in 3 yeards time will have 80k on the clock.

What are my chances?

Don`t convertibles rise in value each spring?
After a big drop I can see it possible for prices to rebound especially as we are entering sports car enjoyment season. if you`re willing to wait a while you may find the bargains appear again come autumn. Right now the supply/demand ratio favours the higher prices.

I was/am tempted to trade up to an M. I have an informal offer on my 3.0 at just 14k. I mentioned BMW would offer me 15k or more but the private buyer still won`t budge so I think buyers are being unrealistc also. Apparently I should be interested in the 14k offer so I don`t give it to BMW to make a profit on -

Si, you will always get the odd car selling for alot less than they should, just have to hope your still looking and spot it early enough to get the bargain price.
I think if sellers are looking at AUC prices then making their cars a few K lower in price then most of the current private sale prices arent far off, after all Glasses and CAPS are listing M trade in prices pretty high still.

Prices aren't appreciating. A few months ago people were either being forced to sell due to unfortunate circumstances or they were panic selling with the view that the world was coming to an end. They were crazy prices.

Unlucky if you had to sell in that period, lucky if you were buying. Now the prices are reflecting reality a bit more. If you look at the broader picture the cars have certainly depreciated (as would any normal car in a normal year), the only difference is the plummet in from a few months ago is correcting itself a little.

Add in a few other factors like higher summer time prices for roadster and greater demand for used cars vs new cars and you can see why prices have increased some.

Sorry but you have just contradicted yourself :poke:

"Prices aren't appreciating"

and

"you can see why prices have increased some."

Prices have risen above what they were going for at the end of the year/start of 2009, well certainly the AUC cars have, thats for certain and that in some way will/has driven the private prices up as well.

Its just been a market correction as values fell too low at the back end of last, and the start of this year.

Exactly.

If you polled the values every May for example, ignoring the winter droop, then the depreciation curve is probably about right for this kinda car at ~ 15% a year give or take.

I don't consider a plummet followed by a swift market correction as depreciation followed by appreciation. You have to look at these things over a reasonable period, otherwise you could observe individual sales one-by-one and claim constant fluctuations of apprecitaion and depreciations :D

Well done on the sale.

I rekon you could have got a bit more for it.

Do you still have the spare 108's or did they go with it?

Cheers
