Current BMW M Prices

I dont know about that, as long as they are well maintained. The number of cars that will be under 50k in 3-5 years time will be tiny with only 550 coupes made in 3-5 years time that will make the oldest Z4Ms 12 years old. The low milage cars will be more like collector cars than enthusiast cars and will hold a premium.

Like now its pretty hard to find any Z3Ms with less than 50k on them, but the cars with 60-70k will be acceptable with people buying them looking to do work on them. The gap will be bigger but I think 50% of the market will start to even out with price. Also at 12 years old for most people these cars wont be worth repairing with the cost of maintenance so the cars not in enthusiast hands will start to be poor and will be more in the restoration type bracket, or worst case scrapped.

10k ?

Meaning how much will a cheap one be ?

I think you could see cheaper ///MCs down at £7-8k within 5 years (same as Z3MC).

Like Tom said the ones with 60-70k will be acceptable and if well maintained I think will still go for £10-12k, but the well maintained <50k examples would still fetch up to £18k in my opinion.

Hmmm..

I sold my Z3MC for £10,000 and it had 104k on it 2 years ago...... there isnt many around for £7-£8k and if so they are scruffy ratbags...Mainly due to age as they are getting on a bit now...And they have chassis trouble which can affect the resale
Many are going for £9000-£12000.....Only the late S54 engine cars with low miles are bringing significantly more money..

IMHO i think the Z4MC will drop to £9ish at most for a ratty high miler and then level out....

I cant see them ever dropping to £5000-£6000.....They could be broken for more than that for a long time to come...

Hah 8k - i'd be tempted to buy another one at that price.

You don't need 2 buy one for me and I will be your pet monkey

I don't have an M but I felt lucky to get my zed or 6k in October. I could choose from loads now :(

it seems no M is going for under £10k, even with high mileage and poor condition.

The thrid and forth are at hexagon so can be ignored really, stupid prices. But surely they're also having a laugh with the first one??

I know BMW add a fair wack but this is good news for M coupe owners? Signs of things to come? What do you think?

It's not BMW that add a fair wack - it's the individual dealer who sets the advertised price. Of course no body has to pay the windscreen price and it's up to an individual purchaser to negotiate.

Hexagon won't negotiate. I believe they say they charge a premium for making their cars absolutely immaculate at whatever cost.

Sometimes I won't negotiate either, especially when I know I a) have another customer who might buy the car, b) know the car is cheaper than anything else comparable for sale.

Sometimes you do have to pay the "windscreen price" as you call it - unless of course you don't believe the car is worth it :)

True but I suppose BMW set a president for the private market. The market does seem to fluctuate and were in a great heat wave right now and summer prices are always stronger.

But what baffles me is I've owned mine two years and these prices are the same as when I was looking yet the cars are two years older and have average miles extra on top. If this is the case the ///M could become a good car that isn't loosing a huge amount of money. I paid £500 more for mine than that 80k at the top and mine had half the miles. Also I wouldn't pay extra with the mods it has having e46 wheels reduces the value in my mind as they are common as muck so easy to get hold of. Yet although 224s aren't bmws finest wheels just over 2500 ///Ms were brought to the uk roadies and coupes so they are harder to get hold of.

Just glad prices seem to be good and the cars are obviously sort after. I was thinking of selling up in the next 6 months because I'm planning on moving abroad but I might just put it in storage if prices stay strong. Keep it for when I come back. Because by the time I get back it will be harder and harder to find a car as good as I think mine is.

Where are you thinking of moving Tom? If it's only temporary, I'd strongly recommend keeping your ///M - as you say, you might struggle to find another in such good condition when you come home (or even to import to your new home). Whilst I'm in Oz this year I'm fortunate enough to be able to store my cars in my parents' garage where I know they will be safe and well looked after. My father runs them regularly and even washed my ///M for me as I didn't have time before I left the UK

The 8k was in 3-5 years time not now obviously!

Ye I was thinking of moving to South America! I have a garage and my dad would look after it for me so it is an option

Unless you want to use the money to travel of course...

You cold probably get a cat c/d one for under £10k :P

Although going by WBAC valuations, my 2006 90k mile Z4MC is only worth about £8.5k

Which probably means it's only worth £10k on the open market - hence I'll be keeping it

Yeah but yours has been significantly improved since you bought it :)

On the my previous 2 cars I have not lost a penny, MK1 TT 225 R, got back what I paid after 18 months. Then my Golf which did see me make a £150 profit on paper.

However when looking for an M I never really considered residual value (other then taking GAP), and now I have my perfect car I don't think I would care if some guide valued it at £9k. My MR is the first car I have owned that Ive not already been thinking whats next, for me it just ticks all the boxes.

I paid top dollar for mine at £16,250 (2007, 21k, FBMWSH, high spec), my friend who works in car sales thinks I'm mad, but it got me that car "I" wanted. :driving:

Ye thats true but I have a little saved up for the trip and tbf the value of the Z would make a pretty amazing trip but then I know I would want another when I got back. I dont know will make a decision nearer the time, hard one tho!

The beauty of South America is that you won't need to spend the price of a Zed to have an amazing experience

Top down 340 hp fun for just over 12k with in reality maybe a 2k / year drop over the next few years I think is top value :-)...

I don't have an M but I do understand why some people pay more - my 04 3.0 SE cost £8k when I bought it last FEB - spent another £300 having the 108's refurbed but it is now near perfect - one previous owner , FBMWH , nav , M seats, original paintwork , no blemishes or dints , 28k miles.

Probably paid at least a grand over the odds but I can't believe I could find another in the same condition ,spec and mileage anywhere so to me it was worth every penny - even though I do very little mileage and it sits in the garage I still get a tremendous buzz when I take it out - made the mistake of selling my last zed so won't be making the same mistake again !
