Current and working roof drain cleaning guide?

So to do this you only need to remove the wheel arch cover? Then you can reach in for the drain plug? - I don't need to disconnect the ABS/DSC sensor or the splash thingy?
sorry for pedantic asking just want to make sure I have it right before I start this.

Yeah - I just remove the small piece at the bottom front of the wheelarch liner, not the whole liner. Three visible screws and one just under the car. I don't take the wheel off - it drops out the way enough that you can get access once you jack it up.

Surely their must have been a reason to have the bung :?

I had mine off for the first time last year.. was full of crap.

I'm sure they do... i suspect the reason is to stop debris coming up from underneath. But it would appear that the bigger problem is the bung stopping debris from above dropping out and it blocking up...!

I'll have to do it though, somehow, just for piece of mind.

You could just pour some water above the area where the drain holes are and then observe behind the rear wheel if it is coming out.

Hood closed, water seeped carefully over rear of hood corners, it disappeared, and then drips appeared in front of the rear wheels?? I'm confused [not hard]

I unplugged my drain plugs to clean them. I just built a small ramp from three pieces of wood each piece about an inch thick the longest on the bottom obviously. Then reversed up onto it. I then reached under the car and felt around for the plug it's a lot larger than I would have imagined but easily pulled out. Mine had a tiny amount of gunk.
What concerns me is that on the drivers side I was able to look down, near the roof, and see water in the area of the drain. I stuck a wire in there and stirred it up and it drained immediately. So for me the problem it seems is at the top section not the bottom of the plug. Before I do this on the passenger side can anybody tell me if it's safe to do? I won't end up damaging the roof motor will I?

That's exactly what I did using a long knitting needle after shining a torch there. Unfortunately, on the passenger side it is not possible to do this as the drainage hole is obscured by the plastic covering of the roof motor.

Yeah passenger side you can't see crap all.

The pits, you should see water in front of the rear wheel as this is where the drain runs to.

Thanks for that, I obviously got confused [not hard :? ] as I thought I'd read behind :lol:

p.s. Had the hood cleaned / reproofed / refurbished today, and again there was water in front of the rear wheels, so all looks well with my drain-holes...... at the moment
