I was doing a differential fluid change and saw this level sensor on the right rear control arm, ('05 E85 3.0)
Can anyone tell me the purpose for this?

Hello! May I kindly ask what oil you put for the diff? I want to make the change as well! I want to confirm that I am buying the right one(1L or 1.2L) . I have a 3.0si (should be the same?)

I used Redline 75W-90 Synthetic Gear oil. I bought 2 qts, one wasn't enough.

I would also highly recommend picking up a couple of new plugs (fill & drain). If they've never been changed, (like mine), 20 years is a long time for an o-ring.

Also recommended, is this 14mm Hex adapter for your socket wrench. The fill plug is in a very tight area for tools, and this adapter was a life saver!
