Cup holders.

My 1st Coupe didn't have them, but I found a pair of Machine Monkey ones on here that were great!

So keep looking!

I just bought a pair from ASM for £60 delivered
I spoke to a guy there called Matt, he was very helpful
They arrived well packaged and in very decent condition (could have done with a clean if your a bit OCD?)
As a suggestion, if I’m struggling for pre owned car parts, I normaly go to the “Charles Trent” auction site.
I look up a BMW Z4 to see what’s available
At the bottom of the advertised car will be links to Z4’s breaking for spares by other companies
That’s how I got mine last week
£60 for a pair delivered is a fantastic deal considering a forum member wanted £100 plus delivery.
Hope this helps :D :) 8)

Thanks for the information, Thunderous One, much appreciated & a lot more help than some of the amusing (not) & very boring replies on here.

look pal, this is a lighthearted forum full of enthusiasts who gather here for banter and sometimes help, you have shown by your monotone request you have no interest in being part of that group or being a member, you have joined for the express purpose of getting some cheap cup holders and nothing else - it is considered good manners to join and introduce yourself and then ask for parts or help , Im afraid its you that is being rather boring.

Oh bugger, I sprayed them black for my new mate.. :headbang:

Hi and welcome to the forum (mad house apparently over the last few days - must be all that sunshine!).

Cup holders are a rare item. I don't know if you've just got your Zed but the OEM dash cup holders are in my opinion over rated in terms of performance. They always feel like they are on the edge of their performance limits with a hot drink dangling over your leg or in the direct line of exit entry if you have to get in or out of the car while they are in use.

Machine Monkey did some nice ones which IIRC clipped against the trans tunnel - try a forum search to find out more (top left tool bar). The OEM holders were an option so a broken one can be replaced with a 'blanked' air vent unit on a temporary or permanent basis. If you've never had them you haven't missed much in my opinion.

Since you are here why not introduce us to your Zed (pictures always good start) and a bit of history - just got it? project car etc.

Oh Harry, you shame me with your niceness...
But your right about the performance, I used one of mine and I didn't get any more power or performance at all, could mine be faulty? Does it need remapping maybe?

Fitted mine yesterday
Took about 6 mins to do
Was it worth it?
These cup holders are flimsy
I’m a supermarket snob and regularly get my coffee takeaway from Waitrose, so after fitting these c/holders I tested it with my usual cup (a standard cup, nothing special) and it did not stand straight at all.
Really don’t like them
Are there better options out there?

You know it's a ratchet arm thing right? I'm just checking because I rarely use my cup holders and at first thought they were stupid, so much so that I took a pic and almost posted it complaining - until i poked the arm bit and realised you push it into what ever is in your cupholder and it makes it stand upright once it's adjusted. I felt so stupid once I realised

Hi all, thanks for your replies, after reading your advice I think I’ll give the cup holders a miss, regardless of colour! :D
Probably the wrong thread but since Harry asked, I’ve had the car for around 2 weeks but been looking for a few months for a low mileage example in grey & been visiting this site as a guest until my purchase. On first impressions the knowledge & knowhow within seems great & I look forward to using it for the duration of my ownership of this great car, not just for cup holders! :)
It’s a 2007 2.5si with 62k with good history. I’ve had the wheels refurbished, fitted a wind deflector for the Mrs & also added a ZHP gearkbob as the original was tarnished. It also came with a stubby aerial already fitted
I would like to add vodaphone rear parking sensors & maybe paint the callipers silver/grey?
It’s currently on runflats but may change these in the future.
It had a couple of ‘bush’ advisories on the last MOT & I’ve had these checked out & they’re fine for now.
I bought the car for fun weekend drives in the Lake District & might do the NC500 this summer.
I love this car already & wish I bought one years ago, I looked at the Mazda & Boxter but much preferred this one for looks & it’s great to drive.
I wasn’t too fussed regarding the engine size (2.5 vs 3.0) as I’ve never driven the 3.0 but can imagine it’s even more fun. Pics are prior to the wheels being refurbed. All the best!

lol, your so right
I just went into my car with indignation at what I thought were crappy cupholders and pushed the arm in and “hey presto!” The cup fits fine
I’m kinda glad you responded as had I not figured this out then at least someone assisted me with advice!
Cheers, really appreciated
And yeh, kinda felt dumb when I worked it out after I had posted a rant on the forum!
Lol, :D :o :?

Ooah its a roadster - well done

... and yea I know there is a ratchet arm thing - even with that secured I've seen and used more secure holders. All that mid dash area to go at and they had to put it behind the steering wheel. Still the roads I use you wouldn't want to have a drink in hand :driving:

Car looks great OP.

Good to hear you are loving it already. :driving:
