Ive searched the forum, I don't want to fit retro cup holders, up in the vents seems lousy, not only incase anything spills but Im 6 FT and notice getting in and out with cup holders out might be a squeeze.

So... What alternatives are there that preferably go on or near the floor?

Ive heard of 'Ultimate Cup Holders' from US. They look good but is there a UK equivalent so I don't have to wait up to 7 weeks?

Yes, don't get the retro fit junk unless you like taking the car to a detailer to shampoo your carpets when the things snap and your drink spills all over the place.

unless you have to actually drink something while you drive, I just carry one of those 4 cup, cardboard/paper things from a mcdonalds and use that. Hasn't failed me yet unlike BMW's mess.

I am actually going to remove my retrofit junk and get the original covers or whatever.

My drivers side cup holder has broken. If you want to sell and yours is black give me a shout.

Cheers

Whats wrong with the originals, exactly?

They aren't designed to be left out whilst exiting/entering the car. Never had a problem with them myself and i'm the same height as you.

Im not saying they were designed to be left out while you get in and out however I am in and out whilst my drink stays there. I attend meetings in the week which last an hour or so and then I get back in with my current drinks sitting on the floor. Cup holders on the vents wouldn't suit this type of use.

Ideally the ultimate cup holders are the perfect idea, would be great if someone had some sort of UK equivalent or something similar where I didn't have to wait 7 weeks for shipping :-/

Mine have been retrofitted since about 2 months after I bought the car, and despite doing about 67,000 miles in it (including driving around the 'Ring with bottles of water in them) I have not managed to break one yet. Maybe it's because I limit myself to containers of a maximum of 1 litre :poke:

Surely theres got to be a similar alternative to the Ultimate Cup Holders? Anyone? Looks like I will have to order and wait patiently :-(

I had a pair of the ultimate cup holders in my old z4. They were ideal for what you want. I doubt they'd take 7 weeks to arrive. I managed to get mine brought back by my folks when they went to the US.

If I didn't already have the oem cup holders in my current car, I wouldn't hesitate to order the ultimate ones again.

Really? Oh I missed that, well obviously there doesn't seem to be any alternative so I may a swell go for them then!

MACHINE MONKEY, is a legend. On my quest to find a UK alternative to the 'Ultimate Cup Holders' Machine Monkey Strikes again!

He's produced this today already for me...

Im going to test it out as soon as I get it but this is perfect for what I need!

I have only spoke to him twice on here and sent a little request yesterday and boom, this morning he sent this! Perfect!

To be honest I think this cup holder solution is perfect, especially for me. Sits lower on the floor and if you spill any liquid it misses your leg and dash board and only goes on the carpet! Perfect!

I live here in the States and have a pair of the ultimate cup holders. They work very well and do the job nicely. If you can get a pair from Machine Monkey, go for it.
