Cup holder / vent rattle fix

These seem to generate a lot of rattle, so i removed mine and found the vent itself is a few pieces of plastic joined by clips, plastic rivets etc. Even when manipulating by hand it rattles, so i used some 'Serious Glue' which is basically epoxy, and set about making it more or less one piece of plastic by bonding all of the touching parts.

I've also used some thin sticky foam draft excluder so when refitted to the dash its more snug. Result, significantly reduced noise. Next item to finesse are the window surround plastics. They seem to creak.

Please feel free to try it, does a decent job to make the car less annoying for rattles.

Does this mean the cupholder and vent is all one unit now, and not removable/replaceable if breaks?

This is the vent and vent surround. The cupholder attaches by a single screw, but again, a little sticky foam between the two prevents plastic on plastic squeaks.

I currently dont have either cupholder in them as they both broke recently.

I've really got to get rid of some of my rattles, but I can't stand having to take all those bits apart to do so.

It's 2 screws to take the vents out, then just flip it over and glue
It's not the vents that are rattling on mine - it's the screen, something behind the seats, and something in the hatch.

Where exactly are the screws? I've got a rattle that's getting on my nerves, and pretty sure it's also coming from the air vent.

One is behind a plastic cover, visible at the top of the vent, just pop the black circular cover off. The other is visible when you open the cup holder.

So I guess you remove the blanking plate. The vent is attached the same way regardless.

In a mild moment of boredom, I decided to do a little more rattle fixing. The A pillar plastics dont have a tight fit and if you push them, they flex and creak a little. To fix this I used some draught excluder foam on touch points, but as there is still a void, it didnt fix it, so, using a black sock (anything coloured or light may have a slight reflection in the screen through the small gap) I slid this down the length of the pillar and refitted. Now the A pillar is much firmer as the slight void is now braced by said sock

Similar story on cross piece, only using draught excluder foam strip where this and the A pillar plastics connect, to hopefully stiffen and quieten these plastics.

All done in 15mins, but no test drive to confirm results yet. I imagine anything will help, but may not eliminate all squeaks.

I'd like to soundproof the doors next as the other thread has inspired me. :-)
