Cup holder squeaky!!

Gents,

you probably encounter the squeaky sound that our cup holder plastic makes during the drive.



So my question, how did you fixed it?

I am seriously considering to glue everything up and never to use them, as I don't need cup holders in my Z4, I don't drink and drive.

I have a pair of blanks that I'm more than happy to swap with your cupholders if you remove them.

Is yours an original fit or aftermarket? Maybe the screw that anchors the cup holder to the vent chassis has come loose or is missing; an easy oversight if you’re retrofitting.

2enuff_zed: sorry mate, we are not in the same country anymore (I am in Croatia) how knows what kind of import taxes will be applied. But hell yeah, if I remove them, we can swap.

2Zedebee: original fit, nothing was changed from the first day. I will check the screws, maybe someone messed with them before my time. Thanks for idea!

They're a terrible design. The best thing to do for these is to take then out and get some sticky felt tape and wedge this in where all the squeaks come from (jiggle it around and you'll locate them). Then give it a good coat of silicone spray and you'll get the majority of the squeaks gone.

Ha! I did know that, but was having a bit of fun to see how many people reacted! Swapping a pair of blanks for functioning cup holders would be like armed robbery

No I think those are the covers for the cup holders.
The blanks just fill the holes if you remove the cup holders.
