CTEK question

Whilst connecting my battery charger yesterday, I wondered if it's ok to leave the bonnet not fully closed (open about an inch when you normally push it down to fully shut) with the car all locked up? Is that ok to do? Saves possibility of pinching the charger wired. Ta.

Can't find it now unfortunately, but there's a thread on here somewhere that shows how to run the lead down to the nearside headlight, then out through the gap between the inner edge of the light and the bumper.
I do it this way and it means the bonnet can be shut normally.

I leave the bonnet open (saves me crawling down the side of the car to open the bonnet) but you can see the gap just to the right of the wire, if you want to close the bonnet, on the photo below.

Does having the bonnet open a little mean the alarm doesn’t arm though due to bonnet switch?

I don’t lock the car while it is in the garage. The garage itself is alarmed through the house system.

I ran my charger lead this way recently, no need to open the bonnet at all as it’s reachable through the grill

Cheers for all the replies. I'll run it around the headlight area and shut the bonnet completely as it needs alarm to be set.

I’ve also had mine on the CTEK with the bonnet open slightly. The car locked and armed the alarm fine. No problem with the alarm going off either.

Except that one time I forgot that the car was locked and I opened the bonnet to check the status of the charger. Alarm blasting away, me looking for the keys and I realize I don’t have them with me. Well, before I found my keys the alarm siren stoped by it self. But I guess the neighbors wondered what I was doing. :P

I leave my bonnet open with the car locked. For some reason my ctek doesn’t reach out of the front when connected so the unit has to stay inside the engine bay. I guess there’s an extension they sell.
