CSL Wheels

Thanks for the heads up. Have to admit they wouldn't be my first choice but willing to give them a go.

I've never had PS2s on mine but I will say this.....

I've found the Vreds to be very good, I switched from the OEM continentals on 18" wheels to Vreds on 19", despite the lower profile with the CSLs and found the ride to be no worse and grip both dry and wet was improved. Also they seemed much better in the snow.

Mine have also lasted as long as the Continentals I had on and I don't mind the looks.

:poke: What Ali hasn't told you is that the Michelins he is comparing have a larger profile than the Vreds he had on, which may account for the improved ride. Also, when he drove my car it wasn't lowered like his nor did it have a fast road geo set up like his.

Michellins are in another price range, I find the Vreds are great value for money.

Busted! :P

When i say better ride, even on OEM baloon tyres the damping and ride comfort is spine shattering!!

Went to fit my CSL wheels this morning only to find the car doesn't come with a brace to take the wheels off. Should BMW not supply one with the car? Looks like i'll have to take the wheels to a tyre fitting shop instead!

Technically as it has no spare you would have no need for a brace to remove the wheel!

Think of it as a weight saving, while BMW will have it as a cost saving

Don't do that, go to a tool store and get a socket bar and a 17mm socket. It works much better than the usual brace that comes with the car. The M's without a spare don't come with a brace by the way.

Cheers chaps, got the trolley jack just need the brace, my mate says he's got one so looks like i'm sorted!

Put some carpet or a piece of wood on jack or you'll destroy jack points. Do NOT use rear diff it is specifically excluded as a jack point. Think the rear point allows enough lift to change front and rear together.

hi guys, im on genuine CSLs, i had to fit a 12mm spacer on the front to fit my AP setup which is 370mm,...... to be honest i was really concerned about fitting the spacers as im not a fan of at all, BUT... they allow me to run crazy camber without strut foul and also fill out the front arches much better, the front CSL isnt a good offset for the z4m.... With the camber changes a grippy tyre and the wider section up front, understeer is REALLY dulled down, down sides??? the car follows all the ruts and bumps in the road :-(

Re the tyres i switch between the ps2 and PSS, both of those are awesome awesome road tyres...... the pss has some serious performance for a street tyre, i find the Ps2 seems to really struggle when they get warm. michelin is the the only tyre my ///M will ever see.

p.s Re the spacers im happy to now say they havent effected anything at all, no wobble or anything, im using ARP wheel studs and magnesium nuts.

Here's a pic from the Turner Motorsport site. The wheels sure look good to me and the price is right! I hope they're legit.

Hi,

My name is Tom im 23 and a graphic designer from Cumbria and.. I have finally taken the plunge and bought a second hand Z4M I take delivery of it in 13 days... so excited! In fact the garage was so desperate to get rid of it they gave me £1000 more than they offered for part x with my 320si they gave me a 2 year warranty for free and they did the inspection 2 also for free. The car is specced to the nines as you would expect although it doesnt have cruise control which is abit of a PITA!! The car already has the BMW carbon fibre spoiler on the back, the window tinted at 35% (I think), the OEM 18" but they have been resprayed with a shadowed black colour which really looks great with the grey colour it is in.

Anyway im a sucker for the CSL alloys my dad had a set on his E46 M3, but I want a set of shadow chrome CSL alloys. I am also a complete noob when it comes to spacers etc I have no clue what I need. My budget is £1300 for a set with tyres, obviously I cant get OEMs but im not too fussed a good replica is good enough for me.

I have been looking at the guys at BM Auto Sport because I haven't heard anything but good things about them.

These are the wheels, but they are not under the Z4M section just normal Z4. Would these be suitable obviously at £550 they sound great to me and will look sick. What is the expert opinion?

Many thanks

Tom Scott
