I'm currently looking for a Z4M and i intend to buy a set of CSL wheels. Question is what is the difference between genuine CSL wheels vs replica's in terms of price and styling and most importantly where can i buy apart from BMW?

Or the classifieds http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=29740

I'm waiting for these to be refurbed but the chap that does them is on his holibobs. When they are done I will re-advertise them on PH/Here (again)/CSL Register.

So are these £1440 new?

Without rubber. Even so thats a pretty good price. The cheapest I could find then when I bought mine was Simpsons motorsport http://www.simpsonmotorsport.co.uk/bmw-tuning/shop.asp?id=67&pid=67&cid=51&pcid=12

The £1440 is for a set with the M3 CS size fronts i.e. 8J. For the CSL size (8.5J) their price is £1613 which is still good depending on their delivery charges.

Cheers guys, does it make any going for either the M3 CS size fronts i.e. 8J. or the CSL size (8.5J)?

How do the replica prices compare and do they look the same as the genuine wheels?

No wouldn't even put the genuine Enkei's or Volks on the Evo, think they look terrible.

I'll do a search and see what i can find.

Cheers

No it makes very little difference, the front CS wheels sit about 3mm in the way compared to the CSL fronts but other than that they look the same and are a bit cheaper. You can still run 235 or 245 fronts which is more than enough for the car.

I think both wheels need spacers if you go for AP racing brakes.

I know Beedub did, maybe he is also running CS's then. Although wider the front offset of even the genuine CSLs mean the wheels sit in further than the oem 18s. Think its a few mm's.

He runs the bigger calipers. The ones actually designed for our cars can be accommodated by OEM 18s and CS/Ls no probs

I've noticed that alot of members seem to be running with Vredestein tyres, are these considered to be one of the best tyres for the Zed? I've never considered using this brand of tyre before always opted for Yokohama and Bridgestone.

Gilberto.
As for tyres. I've been very pleased with my Hankook v12evo. Work well in the wet. Worked very well on the Nurburgring this week. They aren't noisy. And they are inexpensive to boot. The main problem is the name. Hankook just doesn't flow from the tongue or sound romantic.

Cheers

Daz will give me grief for this....But i'd avoid them for the following reasons.

The take ages to wear in
They look rubbish
They don't last particularly long
They are apparently a bugger to get on and off the rim
I mixed axles so the balance was horrific but even when i drove Daz's it didn't feel as good as mine was on Michelins!

I've gone back to Michelins PS2 all round and it's transformed the car back to what it was like before. Better ride and a far superior tyre imo!
