Hi everyone

I need to fit some replacement tyres on my CSL's. They are fitted to a Z4MR.

It seems to be suggested 235/35 front and 265/30 rears are the advised sizes? That's what is currently fitted too.

I can get them fitted at work and so far I have been offered....

Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2 - £550.38 delivered

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S - £640.30 delivered


What are everyone's thoughts on sizes, tyres and where to get them from?
 
There’s two sizes

225x40x19 (F) 255x35x19 (R)
or as u mentioned
235x35x19 (F) 265x30x19 (R)

Suggest you look for a fitted price, as I found for example Costco would do the 235 front fitted in MPS4s’ for £310ish (if ur a member) recently.

Then there’s the debate about tyre pressures, as I would suggest running a wider tyre you may need to compute a lower PSI as the weight is distributed over a larger surface area

18” recommended pressures
225=30.458 (30.5)
255=31.908. (32)

Therefore (225/235) x 30.345 = 29.161
235=29.161
(255/265) x 31.908=30.7
265=30.7

If you read a number of posts, quite a few said they had better M handling on a lower pressure which kinda supports this computation

Go for the PS4S.

Blackcircles are offering a 10% discount at the moment I believe.

The wider the tyre, the more vertical weight distributed over a larger surface area, where on cars I’ve owned in the past which have had different tyre sizes on the plate they’ve had different pressures.

Confusingly some have had higher, some lower pressures with wider tyres.

This, coupled with some googled posts where people have found M Zed’s less ‘skippy’ on slightly lower pressures, suggested the pro rata formulae for debate...
