Hi guys,
I’ve just bought a Z4M coupe and I’m looking at adding some CSL 19s on the car. I see that CM Wheels offer a good replica.
Can someone advise what size wheels I need, whether the fit straight on or if I need spacers etc and lastly..... what size and brand tyre do you recommend? Cheers Ben

Hi and welcome to the forum Ben.

My M Coupe came with 19" CSL Replicas already fitted that are the exact same sizes as genuine ones and they fit just fine without needing spacers. Although the previous owner had spacers on it anyway. But because they were rubbing I got the spacers off!

Anyway the sizes are 8.5J x 19 fronts with an ET (offset) of 44 and 9.5J x 19 rears with an ET of 27. My tyres are Michelin Pilot Super Sport which grip fantastically, but not so well in the cold and damp and are no longer available. I think the current alternative is Michelin Pilot Sport 4, which another owner rated better in poor weather conditions. Fronts are 235/35 and rears are 265/30. I've no experience of any other brands, although obviously there are plenty of alternatives.

I have since bought a set of 224s and am thinking of getting those refurbished and fitting them. If I do my CSL Reps will be for sale!

Hi Ben,

I am in the market for some 224m wheels if you are looking for a buyer when you purchase your csl's.

Flexible and not in a desperate rush to buy them as I have plenty of rubber on my 108's.

Ideally just looking for the wheels so if the tyres are knackered then it's better for me.

Hi there and thanks for the kind welcome to the group! Thanks also for the information provided. Just one question, would you think that 35 rubber on the back would be ok? Just read quite a lot about having a little more rubber is better for both The quality of ride and also protecting the rim?

35 profile on the rear might help with ride comfort, but would alter the speedo reading. You can find out by how much on here:- https://www.willtheyfit.com/. Just bear in mind that the speedo on every BMW I've had has over-read, as in 30 on the clock was really 27/28.

For better rim protection going a size wider is more helpful, and will give you a bit more sidewall anyway as the sidewall is a precentage of the tread width.
