CSL or M6 19s? Opinions welcome (new pics p.3).....

......back to this old chestnut. Hmmmm. Sod it, I'm going for it!! :fuelfire:

Anyone any ideas where can I get a set of staggered 19" M6 wheels at a reasonable price? Think the black inserts will suit the indicator mod I've since done! If they look shite I'll sell them on and surely the Max power BMW eBayers will pay good money for them! :P

Opinions (note the thoughtful, tasteful and impressive headlight mod)........? :)

Been on to velocity motoring but the shipping fee is astronomical now the pound is so poor against the dollar. :)

I've seen the 19" M6 reps on an M-coupe in person, and both 18" & 19" on the roadster.

I like the styling of the wheels. But IMO, 19" are too big on the roadster. They work well on the coupe. On the roadster, the lower rear quarter fender and trunk lines and the lack of roof body panel just make the wheels look too big and make the car look disproportionate and heavy on its feet. The 18", on the other hand, look just right on the roadster.

If you're going for replicas, then check out how heavy they are as that could be an expensive mistake to make. You'll also probably get some cheap ditchfinders included in the price of the wheels and even the 'upgrade' to 'performance' tyres might only see you on some Avon ZZ3 (ZZR are good though).

Don't forget, a set of 'decent' 19" tyres can set you back £1000!

If you're going for original M6 wheels then check they're kosher (they only weigh about 13kg in 19" form).

Glad this thread has come up as i am looking at CSL rims for my z. I prefer the CSL to M6. Have to be staggered fitment tho. Did i read that the staggered can not be fitted to a z4, only the m? I hope not :( .

I have seen these replicas on ebay if you wanted somewhere that seems well priced for staggered fitment csl's. They also weren't sure if they would fit on the z tho :?

Thanks Curtis. You say theyre OEM BMW? HOw did yo get them to fit on the basis that has the same HUBs as a 3.0?

Further, managed to find a fair few pics of M6 rims on roadsters and have to say they look impressive, albeit I think they may have a slight tinge of "chav" slapped across them......

To my eye these look amazing on the Z4. Apparently the car in the picture has been lowered which makes me wonder how it would look like on a stock Z4. The CSLs don't look bad either. There's absolutely nothing to complain about them and they just look like they belong to the car. However the a deepish look could make them look even better.

I have some CSLs on order they are reps. But im worried as a few people have told me the weight could ruin the handling of the car. I have just painted all my calipers and the OEM Z4 M wheels are pretty heavy! Does anyone know what the weight of OEM CSLs are? comparisons with the OEM Z4M wheels?

The price difference is about £1000 between the reps and the real deals so its a fair bit of extra cash. I know its worth it but at the same time I could do abit more with an extra £1000 like buy some better tyres.

Anyone have any opinions have these on order

I know we've had this conversation already Tom, but based on first hand experience of this type of wheels, I can't say they would personally interest me.

- They increase weight over the Z4M alloys, whereas the OEM CSLs save weight
- They are far worse made, whereas the OEM CSLs are extremely well made
- They 'depreciate' a lot, whereas the OEM CSLs barely depreciate, if at all
- They don't look anywhere near as good as OEM CSLs

Whilst buying OEM CSLs will cost you more upfront, I'd wager you'll end up better financially when you come to sell. Incidentally if you're thinking you would leave the CSLs on the car when you do sell it, the majority of people I know wouldn't touch a Z4M with replica wheels - it screams 'cheap'.

I always like to help where and when I can, since my technical knowledge is fairly limited!

I honestly don't think you'll regret buying OEM CSLs - they will look absolutely fantastic on your car, and they are well worth the money.
