Yea the car was primarily a weekend car. Had only covered 5000 miles in the last 2 years.

Trying to find rear discs at a reasonable price is appearing to be a bit of a challenge.

Rears carry the handbrake so they are expensive, I got them for £121 each, incl. VAT from

Depends what you mean by expensive.

They're cheaper than the fronts, and are less than £130 direct from BMW - before any discount.

True, and they are far cheaper than my fronts for the AP kit, but they seem expensive to me, esp. for cross-drilled discs - which is my last choice design for performance brakes.

Nope, £130, including delivery from BMW Direct.

Even if you're lucky to have one of EuroCarParts 25% off deals, you're still looking at £120 a rear/£160 a front from them.

Not surprised you're having issues. The centre hubs on mine have have stayed shiny over the last 2 years without any cleaning. There doesn't seem to be any gap on yours between the disc and the hub. Is it a stock set up?



I'm sat at Oxford BMW right now wondering if they are going to be replaced though, as the offside hand brake has been making some very odd sounds lately....

I was just pointing out that low-volume production discs are not cheap - so comparing a good price for a 'high' volume disc to the BMW price for a 'low' volume disc means nothing when the OP is looking for a non-AP disc!

I wasn't comparing them ... you asked what I paid for the discs to fit the APs ...

And which is the high volume and which the low volume? I wouldn't have thought any of them were exactly high volume items.

I'd guess the AP disc has applications, over more vehicles than the BMW one will, as the same disc will be fitted to many bells - whereas the BMW has only 2 applications over a (relatively) small vehicle run?

'High' was only meant as relative to the lower volume item - rather than 'high' as in millions

Here are a couple of pictures of my fronts/rears for comparison. Not as good looking as brand new discs, but they've got 30k miles on them so far, including 2 'Ring trips and a couple of track days, using BlueStufff NDX pads.
