CSL Atomics Vs Riva's - NOW WITH WHEEL WEIGHTS!!

Hi all,

I've done my best to search for a similar related topic, but not had much luck so far.

I'm looking at CSL replicas from BM Autosport and my query is:
What is the difference between the Atomic CSL wheels and Riva CSL wheels?

I can see that the offset is slightly different, other than this is one better quality? More accurate replica?

Riva usually 8j 9j , Atomic 8.5j 9.5j , on Si i would go for the Riva for this reason alone , if you do decide the wider widths work for you then pay the extra for the Veemann FS34 :roll: quality is a massive step up for not much more spend , ive had the others & currently have the 34s

Upshot is if you lower the car & the offset on front is sub et40 then you're likely to hear the sound of rubber on plastic if you enjoy driving it or look closely at tyre size to avoid the problem

I’ve got Atomic’s and think they are a great match. The paint finish isn’t great so I had them refurbed, I’m not the biggest fan of hyper silver anyway though to be honest.

I went for et38 fronts and an et33 rear and don’t get any rubbing with eibachs

So, If I had no intention of lowering it, then both Riva or Atomics would be fine.
If I did want to go lower, they would need to be Riva's.

Having owned the gen 1 and gen 2 Z4 convertibles, i'm not sure i'd want to go lower with the roads where I am!

Having done some research and comparison to the original m3 csl wheels, I would also tend to say that the Atomic's are a closer match to the original.

Had the Atomics (ET 38) on mine with Eibachs and agree with Mr Wilks - you will get rubbing at the front with fast road driving. Dropping down profile from 235 to 225 improved it greatly, and going to 215 might have solved it completely, but I didn't want the stretched look. If I went 19's again, I wouldn't go below a 40 ET, as waiting to hear the sound of tyre on arch liner over every bump ruined the driving experience for me.

Or just run 18s and have no issues whatsoever plus a more sporty driving experience

I thought hey both stocked Atomic wheels (made in Taiwan), that were just at different price points.

CM Wheels are £510.00 delivered
BM Autosport are £615.00 delivered


Would the extra price mean better quality? I've seen a lot of posts from people expressing "You get what you pay for"

I payed 6 something for mine from Bm Autosport. Can’t fault the wheels besides paint as per my other post above.

If they are the same sizes you could find out if there’s a difference in weight?

However, the car won't be lowered as mentioned before. So I assume this problem wont happen or will be far less.

Original OEM CSL: Front: 10.9kg Rear: 11.56kg (figures found on google)
BM Autosport Atomic CSLs: approx 11kg per wheel (not the most accurate answer, working on a better one)
CM Wheels CSLs: Front: 11.2kg Rear: 12.9kg per wheel

BM Autosport Atomic 19" CSLs: Front: 12.2kg Rear: 12.3kg per wheel TOTAL (ALL 4 WHEELS): 49kg
