CSL alignment on non M Z4?

Hello folks,

I installed a B12 and the Z4M FCAB, so I need to align the car soon. My question is, is it possible to put the CSL alignment on my Z4? Where can I get the details so I can bring them to the shop?

Thanks in advance

The shop should have details of the CSL on the machine.

I’ve heard it can be done on an ///M, non ///M ??

Not sure if you'll be able to get that much front camber without camber plates, but it probably will be fine seeing as youre lowered.

Vs the Z4M specs, it seems to mainly be a bit more front camber and toe out at the front, so sharper turn in.

Some more info here: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=57226 (note CSL front camber is -1.45deg, not what it says in the table)

I was interested in the CSL set up and ended up somewhere in between a stock Z4MC alignment and the CSL one, on the advice of the specialist. Less front neg (-1.3deg), less rear toe (0deg14). I didn't want to go as far as the CSL in terms of toe-in at the back because of the shorter wheelbase. It's quite a bit shorter - nearly 10%. The front camber is at the bottom of the adjustable range for me but, as above, you might have an issue, even if you've already pulled your camber pins.

Having done it, I can see why people think the handling is messed up from the factory. Turn-in already very strong, but the back is essentially immobile until you really chuck it in or use the throttle, at which point it breaks away very fast. Not a nice feeling compared to something like an Elise or Cayman. Adding front -ve camber (which is what I had done previously) feels great, but just makes the overall handling worse, unless you have another good reason for doing it, e.g. tyre wear on track. Plus you get more tramlining.

Also considering the same, after just having Eibachs and B4's fitted to my E86 Si Sport.

Not sure if I stick with standard factory Si Sport settings or Z4M or CSL.

Its a weekend car but have no plans for tracking/racing.

Just after a well planted all rounder.

Z4m settings are a safe bet on all Zeds, gets rid of the stupid rear camber they have specced (nearly -3 degrees is the factory spec for non Ms)

Also makes the front toe a bit more neutral so better turn in. As a consequence there's a chance the car may tram line a bit but I've never noticed it on mine.
