*Cry*

Much success, 4 and a half months later insurance company told me the other insurance company will pay it all  Turned out:

- Other driver wasn't insured
- Other driver had just bought the car off someone else
- Other driver hadn't told DVLA about new ownership
- Seller didn't issue proper receipt so had trouble proving the sale
- Other driver claimed she wasn't at the accident and didn't own the car
- Seller apparently was starting legal action as they were liable
- I was asked to provide description of driver I hit etc to help which I gladly did

Driver I hit was a total lying weasel moron! Hope they got more than just having to pay the liability for not being insured and being a liar.

Going to try and see if the garage will let me pay the difference and get an M bumper. If not, I get a brand new bumper/grills for free, along with wrapping of the bumper and grills as well.

Bit worried the wrap will be a different colour if my current one has faded but not much I can do about that.

I have learnt from this when being involved in an accident:

- Take better photos of the accident
- Take a photo of the other driver to prove they were there
- When they give you their mobile number ring it to check it works (she gave me a fake number)

Just in time for summer, and I wont get any more funny looks for having a bashed front bumper like I rear ended someone. Next plan is to install the dash cam I bought ages ago! Too paranoid now and this has been a huge headache.

PS: Thanks again MM for generous offer!

Delighted to hear that you finally got it sorted.

Just a bit confused - if the driver who was involved in the collision wasn't insured, then which is the "other insurance" that is going to pay?

She had insurance, but was not technically insured as she hadn't told them about the new car, or forgot to tell them some detail, something like that. Admiral kept flip flopping saying she was/wasn't insured, but she did have an insurance company. Confusing

she'll still be insured.. just not in our understanding of the word.
pretty sure I read someone that the previous insurer has to cough up..

(going to google for the info now)
