Hi all, im new round here, looking for a Z4 at the moment, but just wondering if the Z4 Sdrive23i comes with cruise control standard or is it an option? Ive got the brochure but it isnt listed anywhere as an option, but nor is it listed as standard equipment.

Please help!

Thanks
Matt

It's not standard on any models as far as I know.
Unless it is on the 'highline'

You need to get the 'comfort pack' and with that you also get wind deflector (very useful/essential), auto sensing wipers, auto dimming mirrors, folding mirrors, park distance sensors front and back (you'd be silly not to) and extended lighting/storage
In fact they probably should just include the pack as standard, but would mean base model would be more expensive. With some heavy haggling I'm sure you'll be able to get a number of packs/options included for free.

cruise control is such a basic thing these days, why do BMW not fit it as standard :headbang:

Totally agree... even my friends econobox astra came with it as standard.... but then BMW know ppl will pay for it.. so why give something free which you can charge for?

if it was built in at design I'm sure the cost can't be much more than £50, just an extra stalk and a bit of wiring

The actual cost to BMW will be a lot less than £50.00, probably nearer £5.00, car companies make most of their profit from optional extras and I would guess alloy wheel upgrades produces their maximum profit. Having managed a non-ferrous foundry for a a couple of years the price of a casting is based on mass and man hours to produce it and a 19" wheel will only cost marginally more to produce than an 18" wheel, tyres will only be slightly more expensive to purchase due to the quantities involved, yet Audi, BMW etcetera can charge £1,000's for the upgrade.....sorry rant over

As for cruise wouldn't buy a car without it now and I would say it's on more than it's off

I didn't include it when I placed the order. My daily journey is twisty B-roads, so I hardly use it anyway. Buying used cars will be different though (must-have).

I had it on my old 325i coupe and found it a bit of waste of time to be honest. The Z4 is for driving, not to be driven in. :P :driving:

CC Was a deal breaker for me when I bought my Zed. The BMW system is a little more complex to operate than my previous VW and Honda systems, but having said that it also has a few advantages. Mainly, accelerating and decelerating in 5mph increments aswell as returning to the original speed set, whilst changing gears without having to change gear and re-select a return to the original speed.

Sure the Z4 is made to drive, but I struggle to understand why anyone wouldn't see the benefit in having a cruise control option. I for one wouldn't be without it.

+1

I use CC all the time for long motorway runs, and it's worth it's weight in gold for those damn average speed cameras through roadworks....

Agree, I wouldn't buy a car today without it.
