Cruise control

I have been making cruise control stalks. I made my first version some time ago but have been working on a better version.

I'll just do an image dump below and hopefully follow up with a for sale thread in the not too distant future:
Thats impressive

I really want to do this on my car. Anyone have a link to a kit for sale? Mine is a 2006 coupe. Or should I just order direct from BMW?

What Usel is doing looks very impressive so I'd wait and see what his final version looks like.

But if you can't wait it's BMW or you may get lucky at a breaker like Quarry Motors, but the stalks are very expensive these days. Typically £150 for a used one!

Usel's version does look nice. I think I will still need the wiring harness for a later car though? If so, I may have to bite the bullet and get the whole kit from one of the ebay sellers.

I've got an almost new cruise control stalk I was going to retrofit to my facelift e85. But I've decided I'm not going to bother, so I will be posting it up for sale shortly if anyone is interested.

It was purchased directly from BMW for £275 from memory. The cheapest I've seen them for sale on eBay from a UK seller is £350, though I think with discount codes, that comes down to around £330 currently (seller is LLL Parts, I believe). If you're happy to buy from Lithuania via eBay, I think they're around £275, but guessing there may be import taxes on top.

I don't have the facelift wiring, just the stalk.

Nice bit of 3d printing! Being mean, I attempted to find a stalk that was physically compatible (BMW are good at modular) but gave up when a proper one turned up for about £100. Is that a BMW stalk?

To make the cruise control I have used genuine BMW parts, from their family parts bin, and packaged them together.

The steering adjustment stalk I have used is from a Range Rover but I have also used ones from a 3/5/7 series.

Unfortunately the cruise stalk used in the pre 2009 Z4 is unique.

Wow, I didn't realise BMW were charging that much for them.

As well as my E90 3 Series I had one that worked the same way in my E87 1 Series.

LLL Parts want £320 but they said its "available to order" which usually means they don't have them which means that BMW are currently not making them. As we have seen with handbrake assemblies this tends to mean they will never make any more which is why prices have rocketed.

@Usel I would be interested I purchasing your solution when you have them ready for sale.

I'm in the US but I plan to replace my Z4 steering wheel with one that has the cruise control buttons integrated. When I do that, happy to send my cruise control stalk to someone who needs it (for free), just cover shipping.
